Easter was a busy time as always and especially special as I got to spend some time with our o’l gang from Carlingford. Blessed to have the opportunity to do sleepovers for many of our house sitting clients from when our little Pets Get Physical started way back in 2008-2009!

This can sound too simple to even try for some people…If you’re still struggling to connect with your dog sometimes try this.

1. Pen and paper out.
2. On one side write behaviour you want to see ‘more’ of. We seem to be able to list all the things we don’t want our dog to do don’t we?

3. Column 1 is what do we want our dog to do. Column 2 is what don’t we want our dog to do?

4. Rather than constantly tell our dogs what to do or what not to do, how about we try really hard to save our energy. Observe your dog and when you see your dog being calm, sitting down. Lying down or greeting someone politely ‘reward’ that.

5. Just watch quietly and as your dog behaves in a way that’s their natural doggy behaviour, without being told or waiting for your approval say ‘good’ and reward with a pat or a treat without making a fuss and go on with your day.

6. Commonly we ignore all the times our dogs are behaving perfectly and chew up everyone’s energy chasing them around barking out orders at them telling them what NOT to do. Sound familiar?

Thanks to my friends at Dollys boot camp & vet Dr Peter Mylonas from the vet clinic on Kildare Rd Blacktown, a sweet innocent wee baby kitten was saved. Well kind of.
After a traumatic ordeal, at least found a kind hearted vet who did the kind humane thing and euthanised the poor little angel for us🙏🏼
At least 4-6 vet clinics turned us away as this happens all too often.
Seriously all these people who think it’s ok to mistreat anybody let a lone small defenseless kittens who did not ask to be born!!🤬🤬🤬
- if you know anyone who has an undesexed cat outside look up the statistics on how these cats suffer living the streets starving hungry multiplying in the thousands…

The list of reasons dogs bark seemingly at nothing is extensive. They’re lonely, hungry, thirsty, uncomfortable, need urgent attention, alerting to a potential threat just to name a few.
In many cases, often your neighbours cat, toddler or possums taunted your dog in the first place without you even knowing!
Roaming cats contribute to teasing dogs who are confined not being able to get to whatever is on the other side of the screen door/fence. A dog owners can walk the dog 3x day but if there’s something sneakily teasing the crap out of it most dogs will go nuts to get at it full stop.
✅Dog owners will benefit with periodic training and doing their part sure.
✅Work with each other by monitoring what sets the dogs off.
✅Keep your cat secure on your own property!
✅Keep a close eye on active wildlife at dawn and dusk.

- Responsible pet ownership should apply to cat owners as well as dog owners…
