Today I want to honour my Grandad- the man who shaped my love for dogs and helped make me who I am today.
This didn’t start as a business. The reason I love dogs the way I do started with one very special man.
Him and my Nan both grew up in Scotland and Nan was raised on a farm surrounded by collies. Dogs were always part of their world and that love carried through our whole family.
When I was just three years old, , we went together to pick up their dog Ailey from Bethnal Green London - a little Lassie dog (rough collie) who quickly became the heart of the family and my first love with a dog,
My Grandad loved dogs more than anything.. probably more than a Werther’s Original!
He was funny, stubborn a storyteller and the kind of man who made everyone feel safe and loved.
To me he wasn’t just my Grandad-he was like a second dad to us.
Truly my favourite person.
He loved seeing the photos and videos of all the dogs I care for. I’d show him everything, and his face you would light up watching them all happy and having fun.
He was always proud of the life I was building around something we both loved so much.
Long before The Great Outpaws existed, the heart behind it started with him.
The kindness, patience and love he showed shaped the way I see dogs and the way I care for every single one of them.
This love for dogs-and the life I’ve built around them-will always carry a piece of you.
Your legacy lives on in every dog I walk, care for and love.
From a little Lassie dog named Ailey to the life I’ve built with dogs today- it all began with you.
Now you’re reunited with Nan & Ailey again 🤍🤍🐾
Love you always my proud Scottish Grandad ###x
