Bubble obsession in full swing 🫧

Our animal carers surprised Tassie Devil Olivia with a bubble party!

New and exciting enrichment like this encourages her to get active while sparking her natural curiosity.

Clearly that nest chamber is the place to be 😅

Here’s some special behind-the-scenes Numbat den footage with Azari’s joeys.

During spring, joeys emerge from their burrows and start to become independent from mum. That means plenty of exploring, and they’ll even start to eat termite as they grow.

We’ll keep you updated as they continue to mature!

Meerkats love a tasty termite treat 🤩

These adorable omnivores eat insects, spiders and other small animals, as well as roots and bulbs.

We provide artificial termite mounds and meaty meals like this to encourage the their natural foraging behaviours! 🐾

JOEYS 😍
Our latest cohort of endangered Numbat joeys reached a milestone last month. They’ve officially stopped clinging to mum and have gained some independence!

Numbats are quite a unique marsupial because they don't have pouches. Instead the joeys attach to mum's teats until they are ready to be deposited into a burrow.

Once safely deposited, our animal carers can do quick check-overs to care-fully weigh them, take photos of their unique identifiable stripe patterns and determine the s*x.

During recent checks, we found Azari has two females and two males, while Rio has one female and two males.

Not only are these joeys ADORABLE, but they represent a big win for wildlife!

When matured, these little Numbats will be released into wild habitat as part of our collaborative breed-for-release program

Now that’s good news to share on Threatened Species Day!

At least all this rain means more puddles for the pups to splash in ⛈️

Behind-the-scenes, dingo puppies Sunny and Luna have begun training for walks!

Keepers say they're inquisitive quick-learners, but sometimes they still get a little overexcited 😅

Eventually, it's hoped they'll go for daily enrichment walks through the Zoo grounds.

We know you're all very excited to see Sunny and Luna, and it's looking like they'll be in the Australian Bushwalk within the next month!

Stay tuned for more pup-dates soon.

Hey Kayak👋

In our family of White-cheeked Gibbons, Kayak has taken on a father-figure role for little Lulani, and and they have the sweetest relationship!

You'll often spot Kayak lounging in the sun but staying close by Lulani and Jermei's side. 💙

Time for a tree-mendous shout-out to our Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo dad, Huli! 💚

Not only is he one of the cutest dads around, but he's fathered an incredible FIVE offspring in his 12 years!

His un-be-leaf-able efforts have contributed to our work in the globally coordinated breeding program for this adorable but endangered species.

Go Huli! 🌿

Dad bod looks good on Memphis 😍
Weighing in at nearly two tonnes, this Southern White Rhino is one of the heftiest dads in the Zoo.

Through our role in the regionally coordinated breeding program, Memphis has had two calves in his 37 years, including his son Bakari who lives right next to him!

To say thank you to all the horn-orable dads out there, we're giving FREE entry to all dads this Father’s Day!
