Fully insured for all services. Dogs should be groomed regularly to help avoid painful matting, detect skin changes and to keep them comfortable. A regularly groomed dog is familiar with the process and does not find it traumatic or stressful, whereas dogs that are shaved off once or twice a year are expecting it to be an uncomfortable and scary experience. Where possible, I strongly recommend my

clients book on a minimum 6 weekly recurring schedule to avoid disappointment trying to get your desired day/time. Recurring bookings can be made of multiple options, for example;
2 weekly - bath & dry, bath & dry, full groom.
3 weekly - tidy up, full groom
4/6 weekly - full groom

Finally getting round to a few odd jobs!
If anyone felt so kind as to pop an honest review onto google that would be amazing and much appreciated, link at the bottom for it!
I know a few of you have done so in the past, but for some reason all my reviews disappeared and I keep forgetting to ask people if they wouldnt mind to get on and do another!

I also have a few spots opening for some lucky new clients in a couple of weeks, only the smaller dogs sorry! So feel free to once again spread the word where your pups are pampered. 😁

Wednesday spa and stay day!

We can appreciate that sometimes it is inconvenient to have to take time out of your day to drive your dog here and come back an hour and half later.

On a Wednesday, both Louise (highly skilled vet nurse and groomer) and myself are here, so, we will be offering for dogs to be able to stay with us for the day. (For a small additional fee)

Strict conditions:
This is for dogs getting a groom of some description on that day.
There is no other type of "daycare" option.
No aggressive dogs.
If your dog is found unsuitable, be that finding it too stressful, barks excessively or is aggressive towards other dogs, we will inform you that they will have to be booked for the usual appointment going forward.
Dogs that mark indoors will be wearing nappies.

Supervised indoor "hang out" with us, with supervised toilet and short play/walk in the adjoining dog yard.

Timings for drop off can be arranged from 630am with pick up by 6pm.

Olive (Shigriff Shh its a secret) won Best baby puppy in show at the Griffon special dog show in Newcastle over the weekend!

A little info as I get asked so often.
Is this dog a purebred?
Yes!!
What is this breed?
Brussels Griffon or Griffon Bruxellois.

They are a toy breed!
They ideally grow to be about 4-5kgs. So yes they are little!

BIG personality though! Originally bred in Belgium to hunt rats in the stables.
If you want a super special companion they are the absolute best!
They become your shadow, and I really do mean it. Follow you to the toilet, or into the shower. Perfect dogs for someone at home regularly.....or who takes their dog to work.

Yes they look like ewoks! Or monkeys!
Its beleived George Lucas owned some, and some say they are some of the inspiration for ewoks.
A Grifffon was in the movie "As good as it gets".

Griffons have 2 coat types! Smooth coat that has no lovely beard, and rough coat like the girls you may have seen in the salon! Both coat type can be born in the same litter!

Many fall in love when they meet and spend a little time with one.
Im always happy to talk Griffons and point you in the direction of breeders of this fairly unknown breed.

We fumbled our way through the weekend with the help of my amazing Griffon support crew (her breeder and my grooming friend who got me into griffons)!!!
How cool is this pic.... griffons galore!!!
And yes they come in a smooth coated version too!!!

2026!
Yes I am back! And straight back into playing catch up for everyone thats been so patient to allow me to go away for so long!

What might this year bring?
Glad you asked...

1. The Pet Skin Wellness Spa, previously Pooches by Porada. 🙊
As always your dogs wellbeing is priority to me. This means emotionally and physically! Its time the name reflects that little bit more that is included when your dog comes here for a haircut.
As a Pet Aesthetician your dogs SKIN is actually cared for during the grooming process. Your dogs skin health is a key to a healthy skin barrier, which is what I am trained to maintain....and help restore when things start getting a bit off!
So whilst your dog may not have skin issues, your dog still reaps the benefits of my training as a CPAe and you can rest assured I am trying very hard to note any changes before they become a problem.
(Why regular grooming is also important).

2. New change...to Wednesdays!
Louise will be working with her clients on a Wednesday alongside me.
Why this is a great thing, it allows both of us to have another eye on our work! Working alone sometimes gets boring but it also means you never have another to bounce ideas off!
We will still be working one on one with our own clients!

3. OLIVE

Griffon Bruxellois (Brussels Griffon, aka ewok)
I have been absolutely honoured by receiving a show quality pup from "Shigriff" to love and put my foot into the show world with.
This little breed has stolen my heart, and many of you had the chance to meet some of Olives relatives while they stayed with me last year. So hopefully everyone will get to meet Olive in the near future too!

BOOKINGS
Quite a few have already opted to book the year in advance or the next 6 months.
If possible for you to do so, please get in touch and try get as many in as you can, especially if you have multiple dogs.
