​The Origin: The border country between Scotland and England (hence the name "Border" Collie!). 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

​The Need: Shepherds needed a dog with endless stamina and insane intelligence to manage huge flocks of sheep across rugged, misty hills.

​The Mastermind: Old H**p. Born in Northumberland in 1893, this legendary dog is considered the father of the breed. Unlike louder dogs, he herded sheep calmly using just his famous, intense "eye" and he never lost a single sheep trial.

​The Blueprint: Old H**p’s incredible style, speed, and quiet focus became the standard. Almost every purebred Border Collie alive today can track their lineage straight back to him!

A True Blue Legend in the Trailer! ⚡🐾

​I had the absolute pleasure of spending some time with a gorgeous Border Collie recently! You just can't wipe the smile off your face when you're working with these bundles of energy.

​Did you know?

Border Collies are widely regarded as the smartest dog breed in the entire world! They were originally bred along the border of Scotland and England for herding livestock, and their famous "intense stare" (known as "the eye") is actually how they control whole flocks of sheep without making a sound. 🐏👀

​A bit of history:

While they didn’t quite face total extinction like some older breeds, there was a time in the 19th century when they were mostly unknown outside of rural farming communities. Their brilliant minds and work ethic caught the attention of Queen Victoria, who became a huge fan of the breed. Thanks to that royal spotlight, they transitioned from hidden farm treasures to beloved family members all over the globe, especially here in Australia!

​I honestly feel so incredibly lucky in this job. Every week I get to meet and care for so many wonderful breeds. Getting to hang out with brilliant dogs like this is exactly why I love what I do!

A Gentle Giant in the Trailer! 🐾

​I had the absolute pleasure of grooming Paris recently, a stunning Irish Wolfhound.

These dogs are truly the "gentle giants" of the canine world!

​Did you know?

The Irish Wolfhound is an ancient breed, originally used by the Gaels for hunting wolves and guarding property. Despite their massive size, they are known for having a calm, kind, and incredibly loyal nature. 🐕✨

​A bit of history:

There was actually a time when this magnificent breed was right on the brink of extinction. By the mid 800s, they had almost disappeared, but thanks to the passion of a few dedicated breeders, they were brought back for us to enjoy today.

​I honestly feel so lucky in this job. I get to meet so many wonderful breeds that I’d previously only ever read about in books or heard stories of. Seeing them in person especially beauties like Paris is definitely a highlight of my day!
