At the PDOC, we offer several levels of dog training, from foundation work, to advanced obedience.

All dogs and trainers are welcome to come and practice obedience in our group classes which are run by club volunteers every Sunday.

Congratulations to all our recent graduates of our latest foundation training group. We have enjoyed watching you all gain new skills and confidence building a relationship with you dogs. PDOC do have some spaces left in our next foundation class which will start after Easter. Please send us a message if you want to know more. Remember there will be NO training this weekend over the Easter break however if you are over in mt gambier remember to drop in to the trials to check out the action and support our members competing.

Good news! Training will be on at PDOC this long weekend Sunday with some guest trainers assisting our grade 1 and grade 2 classes. Look forward to seeing you all.

Due to the extremely wet weather forecast for this weekend and particularly Sunday we are making the early call to cancel training for all classes this Sunday, 1 March.

Portland Dog Obedience Club will commence training again on Sunday 8 February. Membership forms have been sent to all existing members those wishing to return should complete and return membership forms nominating their preference for obedience or rally asap. If you have not received a membership form please send us a message or email and we can get one out. Please also note that we have received a very high volume of requests for our foundation intake. We thank everyone for your patience while we assess and reply to applicants.

What wonderful fun we had at the PDOC Christmas break up this morning. Thankyou to everyone who came along and joined in the games and parade. Thankyou to our trainers and committee for another wonderful year
we really couldn’t do it without you. Thankyou to all of our members, foundation class participants
and their dogs who have come to classes through the year for your commitment too. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and we will see you again in February.

It’s PDOC Christmas party time! Yes it is that time of the year again and our Christmas fun break up is being held this Sunday Nelson Park at 10am. Come along for some fun games with your dogs for your chance to win some fabulous doggie prizes. Best dressed festive pet and owner comp will follow the games so come dressed to impress. Note this year will just be the games and best dressed parade format, no food, so no need to bring a plate just bring yourself, your dog and your Christmas spirit! All members and this years foundation class participants are welcome to attend. We look forward to seeing you there. 🐶

It’s here! Our second inaugural rally and obedience trials are happening this Saturday and Sunday. Competition will be starting in between 8.30am and 9am each day and with 315 entries there will be plenty of action to watch for spectators. Everyone is welcome however human spectators only please, non-competing dogs will need to stay at home. So come along and support all of those competing, grab a raffle ticket (prizes photo in comments), coffee or an egg and bacon roll, sausage, hamburger, steak sandwich or vege burger from our friends at Rotary who will be on site all weekend. Hope to see you all there.

Please note there will be NO classes this Sunday 9 November. With our trial coming up shortly we are having a working bee to clean out our shed and get our equipment in order. Enjoy your weekend and we will look forward to seeing you all next week.
