Jumped outside my comfort zone for this one and thought it was about time I tried to tackle my public speaking anxiety! Hopefully, one day I’ll be able to listen back to myself without cringing. 😆😂

I only managed to do one embarrassing thing, which luckily Joe was able to cut out of the video… but I think we’ll keep that one to ourselves! 🤦🏼‍♂️😂

My chat with Joe Mack on Under the Heat Lamp is now out on Spotify and YouTube! 🎙️🐍

Thanks heaps for having me on, mate! I had a great time chatting about all things reptiles and can’t wait to run it back! 🤙🏼🦎

Arcadia 12% & 14% UVB Output Guides 💡

UVB can be confusing, especially when trying to work out what percentage tube to use and how far it should be from your reptile.

I’ve put together these guides using readings I’ve taken from Arcadia 12% & 14% T5 UVB tubes, both with and without an Arcadia reflector, to show how much the UVI can change with distance.

These readings are a guide only, the right UVB percentage and distance will depend on the species you’re keeping, enclosure setup, basking position, mesh and reflector being used.

I also like to recommend replacing UVB tubes every 12 months. While some tubes can continue producing UVB for longer, it’s an easy thing to forget about, so having a regular yearly replacement schedule makes it much easier to keep on top of. I personally like changing mine at the beginning of spring, so the tube is producing its strongest output heading into summer, when many reptiles would naturally experience higher levels of UV exposure.

If you’re unsure which UVB tube or distance is right for your reptile, feel free to message TJM REPTILES I’m always happy to help. 🙂

I’m thinking about doing more educational posts like these to share some of the things I’ve learnt over the years and hopefully help other reptile keepers along the way. 💚🐍

TJM REPTILES has just hit 4,000 followers! 🔥🔥🔥

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who has followed the page, supported me, bought animals or products from me, shared my posts, sent me messages or even just had a chat about reptiles over the years.

Reptiles have been a huge part of my life for the past 18 years, so being able to share that passion with so many like minded people is pretty bloody awesome. 💚

I’ve met some great people through this page and I genuinely appreciate every bit of support TJM REPTILES has received along the way.
Still plenty more animals, breeding projects, enclosure builds and exciting things to come! 🙏🏽💚

Haven’t posted in a while — mainly because work at the zoo has been keeping me busy, and when I get home it basically feels like I start my second full-time job between the rodents and all my reptiles! 😂

But after 9 months, my new enclosures are finally DONE! 🙌🏽

I had a vision for these from the start and built them completely from scratch. I really wanted each enclosure to feel like a little piece of the habitat these guys naturally live in — especially considering I barely get the chance to go away these days! 😂

Each enclosure has a habitat-style picture background and is fitted out with some of the best lighting from , including LumenIZE UVB and halogen basking bulbs. 💡

Pretty stoked with how they’ve all turned out after all the time and effort that’s gone into them!

Hopefully the lizards are just as happy with them as I am! 😆
