☀️🐾 Spring is here, and no one is happier about it than our spoodles! 💐🐶 With their bouncy curls and endless energy, spoodles are the perfect springtime companions- Always ready for a walk in the sunshine, a romp through the park, or a cheeky splash in the nearest puddle.

As the days get warmer, spoodles seem to shine brighter- those goofy grins, wagging tails, and boundless enthusiasm remind us to soak up the little joys of the season.

Whether it’s chasing butterflies, stretching out in the grass, or greeting every passerby like a long lost friend, they know how to make the most of spring! 💛

🎆FIREWORKS AND FURY FRIENDS 🐶

Fireworks may be beautiful to us, but for our spoodles they can be loud, unexpected, and overwhelming which can make dogs feel threatened especially if they haven't been exposed to fireworks before.

Here are some spoodle- specific tips to help your fury friend feel safe and secure:

🐶 Create a safe space:
A den-like place, like your dog's crate, can reassure your dog that there's nothing to be afraid of. This spot should be far from windows and loud noises.

🐶Play soothing sounds:
Turn on calming music or white noise to mask the sounds of fireworks.

🐶 Exercise your spoodle before the fireworks:
Play and do some training before the sun sets to avoid the sounds of fireworks.

🐶 Make your home escape-proof:
Check that your doors, windows, and fences are secure so your dog can't run away if they're scared. Keep them indoor.

🐶Update their microchip details and check their collar tag are up to date- just in case.

🌟 In the case of stress:
If your dog becomes stressed despite all precautionary measures, it is important that they can find a safe place to retreat to, such as under the bed, behind the sofa or wherever they feel most safe. If your dog is anxious it is important that they are not left on their own and that you are there to comfort them if needed.

🌊Swimming with Spoodles: Fun and Safe Tips for Puppies and Adult Dogs

🐕 Spoodles are natural swimmers with their water loving Spaniel heritage. Swimming offers excellent exercise, mental stimulation, and a fun bonding activity for both puppies and adult dogs.

💦Safety first- stay within arm’s reach. Never leave your pup unattended in or near water. If you have a pool consider using temporary mesh fencing until they grow and cannot fit through pool fencing.
💦 keep swimming times brief to prevent exhaustion.
💦 Have a water bowl near by with fresh water
💦 Rinse off with fresh water to remove chlorine or salt
💦Dry ears or use ear drops to prevent ear infections

Swimming can be an incredible way to bond with your spoodle and share family activities and helps to keep them active. 🏖️🐾

🐾 Meeting other Dogs: Socialisation Tips for your Puppy

Socialising your puppy with other dogs is crucial for their development, but it needs to be done in a safe controlled and positive way. Here’s how to make those first interactions enjoyable and stress free:

🐶Timing is key, ensure other pets are up to date with vaccinations
🐶 choose the right playmate who is well socialised and gentle, ideally a similar size, however you can see Judy and Lady have no trouble navigating playtime with these pups
🐶 Reward good behaviour, bring plenty of treats to reward positive calm interactions

Remember every dog is unique, so take things at you puppy’s pace, don’t rush the process. With patience and consistency, you’ll help your puppy grow into a confident and friendly companion 🐕‍🦺

Whether you’re hosting at home or visiting family, here’s how to keep your puppy happy, safe, and stress free this holiday season:

-set boundaries by creating a puppy safe zone, use a gated playpen where they can relax away from the hustle and bustle.

- expose your puppy to the holiday sights and sounds. Remember to keep ornaments, wrapping paper and tinsel out of reach.

- pack essentials like a crate, favourite toys, blanket and food, don’t forget treats!

- stick to a routine by maintaining regular feeding, potty and nap schedules

Remeber puppies thrive with routine even on Christmas!

Training for a Purpose 🎓🐾

Some of our Spoodle have gone on to receive specialised training as therapy and emotional suppport dogs. Their intelligence, paired with a desire to please, helps them adapt to these roles with ease.

Therapy dogs aren’t born- they’re nurtured! We start preparing our Spoodle puppies from the day they’re born to adapt to their new role within their families. By exposing them to every day environments, sounds and experiences, we help to build the confidence and calm temperament they’ll need to thrive as therapy, companion dogs, or fury family members 🏡🐶
