🛑 PARVO: DEADLY DISEASE OUTBREAK:🛑
EVERY DOG OWNER NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT! 🐶
We are seeing this awful disease in Muswellbrook and surrounding areas in puppies.

Parvovirus (Parvo) is a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening virus that can affect dogs, especially unvaccinated puppies. 💔

It attacks the intestinal tract, causing severe illness and can become fatal without prompt veterinary treatment.

🐾 Know the warning signs:
⚠️ Vomiting
⚠️ Severe or bloody diarrhoea
⚠️ Lethargy or weakness
⚠️ Loss of appetite
⚠️ Dehydration

🚨 If your dog shows signs of Parvo, contact your vet immediately.
Call ahead before arriving so the team can take precautions to prevent the spread of infection.
🚨Do not come into the clinic; please call from your car when you arrive.

Remember, Parvo can survive in the environment, such as soil, for long periods and can spread through contaminated surfaces, shoes, and objects. Wash your shoes and hands.🧼

How can you protect your pup?
Keep vaccinations up to date. 💉
Avoid dog parks and public areas where unvaccinated puppies may be exposed. 🐶

Prevention is always better than cure! Vaccination is your best defence against this devastating disease.

Meet Murphy, an 11.6-year-old Springer Spaniel 🐈
Murphy has always been a happy, active dog, but over the last few months he's really started to slow down.
He struggled to do his normal everyday things, like walking, jumping up on the lounge, and he was frequently stumbling. Murphy slept a lot and lost interest in the things he loved doing.

❤️‍🩹When pets age, it is quite typical for them to slow down, and it is a sign that something else is going on with them. It's always good to see the vet if you are worried.

Murphy started a series of laser treatments, and he improved quickly. He is back to chasing the cat, running, jumping, and he has his spark back.

🐞 Beautiful Beetle knows all the tricks for getting treats out of the team when she visits for her arthritis injections.
💉Beetle recently started a course of Synovance injections that stimulate her body to produce more joint fluid and cartilage, which will help improve mobility and relieve joint pain.
She’s always a superstar when she visits!

This week we’re celebrating the amazing vet nurses and technicians who make such a HUGE difference at Pet Medical every day! 🩺🐶🐱🦎🐇

From cuddles and comfort to critical care, these incredible humans wear MANY hats! 🎩✨ Their days can include:
🐾 Caring for hospitalised patients and monitoring their recovery
💉 Assisting with surgeries and anaesthetics
🩺 Running diagnostic tests and taking X-rays
💊 Administering medications and providing treatments
🛁 Keeping patients clean, comfortable and feeling loved
🐕 Supporting our rest and rehabilitation patients on their road to recovery
📞 Helping clients, answering questions and providing reassurance
🧹 Keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes (yes, there's plenty of cleaning, too! 😂)

Who remembers Frank, who starred with Percy in our recent Rest and Rehab video?🎥

Frank the Dachshund has been on one incredible journey with us at Pet Medical. After undergoing surgery for Grade 5 IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease), Frank spent an amazing 80 days in our Rest & Rehab program and finally, on Monday, he got to go home. 🐶💪
His family hadn't seen him for quite some time, and it was a very emotional reunion.

Grade 5 IVDD is a serious condition, and Frank’s road to recovery required plenty of patience, dedication and lots (and LOTS!) of TLC.
Over his 80 days with us, Jaz, Caitlyn and Sophie worked closely with Frank to support his recovery, build his strength and help him regain as much mobility and confidence as possible.

From those early days of recovery to seeing his cheeky Dachshund personality shine through again, Frank has shown us just how resilient our four-legged friends can be. 🥰

In the photos, you can see Caitlyn giving his parents a demo on how to do exercises at home.

We are so proud of this little guy and the incredible progress he has made! ❤️

A huge shoutout to Frank’s family for their patience, trust and commitment throughout his recovery journey.

🦎Beautiful Ivy is a 6-year-old Central Bearded Dragon who came into the Muswellbrook Clinic for a health check today with Nurse Amanda. Ivy was very social and was not shy about flaunting her beauty for everyone to admire; even Nurse Chelsea couldn't resist a scratch.🦎
