Pet Medical were proud to be one of the sponsors for the Murrurundi Sheep Dog Trials that were held over the weekend. It was a fantastic celebration of skill, teamwork, and rural tradition this year. πŸ•πŸ•

Handlers and their incredible dogs put on an impressive display, navigating challenging courses with precision, intelligence, and trust. Events like these highlight not only the vital role working dogs play in Australian agriculture, but also the deep bond between handler and dog.
Congratulations to all that particpated.
A big thank you to the supplier for over 300 sheep. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Did you know that the Purple Poppy recognises the extraordinary loyalty and courage of all animals who serve alongside our military in times of war and peace.
On the frontlines of conflict, protecting and supporting our diggers, or in the homes of veterans living with the trauma of service, these often unsung heroes have earned a place in the hearts of all Australians.
The Purple Poppy also recognises the valiant work of search-and-rescue and law-enforcement animals that have served our communities and kept us safe for hundreds of years.

Barry the Spaniel,
Barry, a 3-year-old English Springer Spaniel, came in on Thursday after his owners noticed he had been vomiting and noticed rocks in his poo. πŸͺ¨πŸͺ¨πŸͺ¨
After an initial X-ray, we confirmed that, yes, he still had rocks in his stomach!

Barry went into an exploratory laparoscopy where we removed a whopping 69 rocks, weighing 710g, from his stomach!

Barry has recovered beautifully from his ordeal and has returned home to his family.
This is not the high-fibre diet we recommend. 🀭

🐾 Future vets in action at Pet Medical! 🐾

On Sunday, Pet Medical proudly hosted, once again, six veterinary students from Charles Sturt University as part of our bi-annual SNIP Student Practical Program.

The students gained valuable hands-on experience in surgery, anaesthetic monitoring, patient recovery, and low-stress animal handling, while assisting with and performing a number of feline desexing procedures under close supervision.

A huge thank you to our dedicated vet & nursing team for sharing their knowledge. πŸ’™

Programs like this are incredibly rewarding, giving students hands-on learning opportunities. We are proud to support future veterinary professionals and continue making a positive difference for pets and their families. 🐱🐾

Theo's 2nd Vaccination
Adorable Theo visited us at the Muswellbrook Clinic for his 2nd vaccination. Theo is very food - motivated.
Watch how Nurse Amanda sneakily gave him his worming and flea treatment without him even noticing it was hidden amongst the cheese.
Low stress handling means your pets love coming back for their vet visits

πŸŽ“πŸΎ Graduation is just around the corner for our Muswellbrook Puppy Preschool class β€” only ONE more session to go!

Over the past 5 weeks, these clever pups (and their dedicated owners!) have been learning all the essentials, and this week was extra fun with a focus on agility training, recall, and continued socialisation skills.

A big shoutout to our amazing trainer, Bec, for leading the class and helping set these puppies up for a confident and well-mannered future πŸ‘

If you would like to give your puppy the best start, we would love to see you at our Scone or Muswellbrook Puppy Preschool programs.

Last week, Pet Medical desexed its 100th cat under the RSPCA Stray Care Program 🐾

This fantastic initiative is helping stray and street cats in Muswellbrook get desexed and microchipped, with the cost covered by the RSPCA - making a real difference to animal welfare in our community.

We were so excited to reach this milestone that we celebrated with a little β€œ100 Cat Party” πŸŽ‰

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this possible!
