Thirty years is an incredible milestone, and this month we are celebrating Dr Jo Holt and her 30 years with Scone Equine Group. 🎉
Jo joined Scone Equine Hospital (Denman) in August 1996 as a veterinarian for the stud season and has been part of the Group ever since.
Since graduating in 1990, Jo has had a passion for sports medicine and lameness, beginning her career at Flemington Racecourse before working at the University of Western Australia Equine Clinic. When she joined Scone, she balanced this interest alongside reproduction, ambulatory work, anaesthesia, surgery and performance horse practice.
Outside of the clinic, Jo made a significant contribution to endurance riding, helping educate and qualify endurance veterinarians, officiating at championship events across Australia and New Zealand, and serving as the Australian Team Veterinarian at the World Endurance Championships, where Australia secured a team bronze medal in 1998 and a team gold medal in 2000.
After returning from maternity leave, Jo stepped back from the demands of reproduction work so she could dedicate more of her time to sports medicine and lameness. She continued building long-term relationships with high-performance clients, many of whom have been with her since she joined Scone in 1996. When the Equine Podiatry & Lameness Centre became part of the Scone Equine Group, Jo was instrumental in establishing the service, taking on whatever role was needed in those early years while continuing to work closely with our farriery team.
Today, Jo continues to provide reproduction services from her own farm, while focusing primarily on sports medicine and lameness at EPLC.
