🐄 Calving: knowing when to watch & when to call

Knowing what’s normal during the different stages of labour can make all the difference when calving season is underway.

Most cows will progress through labour without assistance, but recognising when things aren’t moving as expected means you can step in or call us at the right time.

Swipe through ➡️ as we break down the stages of labour, what you should expect to see, and the signs that it’s time to give us a call.

If you’re unsure about the progress of a calving, it’s always worth getting in touch. Early assessment can help protect both cow and calf.

🐾 September is Senior Pet Care Month at Morpeth Vets 🐾

Our older pets give us so many wonderful years of love and companionship—September is the perfect time to give a little extra care back.

If you’ve been putting off your senior pet’s check-up, take this as your gentle reminder to book. Regular health checks can help identify subtle changes early, even when your pet still seems happy and well.

Throughout September, we’re encouraging owners of eligible dogs aged 7 years and over to prioritise their health and comfort as they enter their senior years.

Take the time for your old friend. Contact our team to book their senior health check today. 💙

☕🎗️ Our Biggest Morning Tea is underway at Morpeth Veterinary Hospital!

This morning, we’re coming together over a cuppa and a treat to support an important cause that is close to the hearts of many in our team and community.

Pop into the clinic for a treat, have a chat, and help us raise funds for the Cancer Council. Every donation, big or small, helps support vital cancer research, prevention programs and services for those affected by cancer.

If you can’t make it in, you can still show your support by donating via the link below.

Thank you to everyone who has already contributed and helped make a difference. 💛

Last week we put our team to the test with a fun challenge: draw up exactly 1mL of fluid with their eyes closed.

Some were surprisingly accurate, some were… confidently inaccurate 😅, but it was a great reminder of the precision and skill our vets and nurses use every day when calculating and administering medications for your pets. We might just stick to keeping our eyes open!

🐾 Kitten cuddles are always a highlight of the day.

Sora & Yoshi, two gorgeous 14-week-old Burmese kittens, visited us for their second vaccinations and completely won over Nurse Tayla with plenty of cuddles and purrs.

Vaccinations are an important part of keeping kittens protected as they grow, but we’re pretty sure the cuddles were just as important. 💕

Thank you, Sora & Yoshi, for brightening our day and reminding us why we love what we do. 🐱

Meet Dolly — our four-legged queen channeling full Dolly Parton energy today and absolutely stealing the spotlight around the clinic. Between the outfit, the attitude and the entrance, she had the whole team obsessed before she even made it through the door.
Safe to say staff productivity briefly stopped while everyone rushed over to say hello 💖
We will always make time for iconic patients around here.
