We have had the pleasure of helping Bala onto his road to recovery, he is such a gentle boy. He is now looking for a foster carer 💚

FOSTER HOME NEEDED IN MILDURA!

Meet 9-year-old Bala, who is currently in the pound. This gorgeous boy was found as a stray in the middle of nowhere, he had been out there for quite some time and was not only thin, but missing hair on his face.

Bala has been receiving veterinary treatment, it is believed the hair loss is due to an autoimmune condition, he is already responding well to treatment. We are looking for a temporary foster home to help us bust Bala out of the pound and continue his recovery.

We are always short of foster carers in Melbourne and have endless dogs needing our help; so rather than transport Bala down now, we thought we would try our luck at finding a local foster hero that is ready to open up their hearts and home to this sweet boy.

Bala has tested well with other large breed dogs in the pound, he is a fairly chilled-out, friendly boy but did try his luck mounting our assessment dog, easily giving up. Bala could be suited to a foster home with a large-breed female desexed dog, he would also be fine as the only dog. Bala hasn’t been tested with cats or other small pets; complete separation would be required.

Bala has shown to be a gentle soul that is quite easy going and friendly, he knows his basic commands, but after spending some time in the pound, his leash manners need some work!
Bala may be suited to living with dog savvy children over the age of 5 years old.

GSRV will supply everything Bala needs, he will need to attend our vet, Benetook Veterinary Clinic for ongoing appointments. We are unsure how long Bala’s foster period will be, this depends on how he continues to respond to treatment.
All of our foster dogs must have a secure yard and be given the option to sleep inside.

Today we celebrate Barley, who you would have seen from a previous post. He has officially completed his chemotherapy treatment!

From the very beginning, Barley has faced every appointment and every treatment with the happiest wagging tail and the most gentle nature. He has been an absolute superstar throughout his journey, and it has been a privilege for our team at Benetook Vet Clinic to be part of his care.
While every cancer journey is unique, today marks an incredible achievement worth celebrating. We couldn’t be prouder of Barley and his dedicated family, whose love and commitment have been unwavering every step of the way.
Congratulations, Barley! We hope your days ahead are filled with plenty of adventures, treats and cuddles.

Some patients walk into the clinic... others prefer to arrive in style! 😎
This little superstar rolled in for their vaccinations, chauffeured straight to the treatment room in their very own trolley. Safe to say they were turning heads before they even reached reception!

Vaccinations are an important part of keeping puppies healthy and protected as they grow, and we think this clever little cutie has already mastered the art of making vet visits fun!

The happiest chemotherapy patient ever! 🐶

Meet Barley, a 9-year-old golden retriever who was sadly diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma.

Barley is currently halfway through his treatment journey and continues to have a smile on his face!

Chemotherapy can sound scary, but moments like these remind us that there can still be wagging tails, happy walks, cuddles on the couch, and plenty of good days in between.

Seeing our patients bright, happy, and enjoying life is what it’s all about. Every treatment plan is tailored with comfort, quality of life, and care at the centre of every decision.
