π FULL-TIME QUALIFIED HORSE RIDING INSTRUCTOR WANTED π
Meraki Equestrian Centre is looking for an experienced, fully qualified and reliable Horse Riding Instructor to join our team in Mareeba, Far North Queensland.
This is a full-time position of approximately 38 hours per week. We are looking for someone who can commit for at least four to five months, preferably longer.
The successful applicant will receive a proper training and handover period. Once familiar with our horses, clients and systems, they must be confident taking responsibility for daily operations when the owner is away.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Responsibilities will include:
β’ Teaching private and group riding lessons to children and adults of different ages and abilities
β’ Assessing riders and creating safe, structured and enjoyable lessons
β’ Coaching general riding, dressage and jumping
β’ Ensuring the safety and welfare of riders and horses
β’ Communicating professionally with clients, parents, staff and volunteers
β’ Assisting with school-holiday programs, camps and equestrian events
β’ Coordinating horses and daily lesson activities
β’ Supervising and supporting teenage volunteers
β’ Helping with horse care, stable duties and general equestrian-centre tasks
β’ Following Merakiβs established coaching methods, WHS procedures and horse-welfare policies
β’ Assisting with daily operations when the owner is unavailable
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT
Applicants must hold a complete and recognised equestrian coaching or riding-instructor qualification that allows them to teach independently and without supervision.
Partially completed diplomas, incomplete qualifications or qualifications that require the instructor to work under supervision will not be accepted.
Australian and recognised overseas qualifications are both very welcome. Applicants must be able to provide evidence of their complete qualification and their authority to teach independently.

β’ Experienced and fully qualified to teach riding independently
β’ Reliable, responsible and organised
β’ Comfortable working without constant supervision
β’ Open and accurate when recording working hours
β’ Patient, encouraging and fun with children and adults
β’ A confident and friendly communicator
β’ Passionate about horse welfare and rider development
β’ Willing to follow Merakiβs coaching methods and established systems
β’ Happy to work as part of a team and assist wherever needed
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
β’ Previous paid experience teaching adults and children
β’ Ability to conduct lessons safely and unsupervised
β’ Strong horse-care and stable-management knowledge
β’ Riding experience, preferably in dressage, jumping or eventing
β’ First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it
β’ Queensland Blue Card, or eligibility and willingness to obtain one
β’ Appropriate Australian working rights

This is not an entry-level position. We need someone experienced and fully qualified who can teach independently and take responsibility once trained in our systems.
