Today our horses and ponies are having their feet done! 🐎💙

Regular hoof care is such an important part of keeping our horses comfortable, healthy and ready for their lessons. There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes to make sure our riding-school horses and ponies are well cared for.

A big thank you to our farrier for looking after everyone’s feet today! 🩵

🐴💙 A Little Change for Jo-Jo 💙🐴

As Jo-Jo is getting older and starting to slow down a little, we’ve decided it’s time to reduce his workload and let him take things a bit easier.

Going forward, Jo-Jo will be stepping away from regular riding lessons and will mainly be used for our gentle leadline pony rides for our littlest riders. 🥰

This means he can still enjoy being involved, getting plenty of attention, pats and grooming, while keeping his ridden work quiet, short and comfortable.

Jo-Jo has been such a lovely part of From the Ground Up Equestrian Centre, and looking after our horses always comes before getting another lesson out of them. 💙

He’s definitely not disappearing — he’s just moving into a much easier job where he can continue making little riders smile. 🐴✨

💙 Rhielle & Russell 💙

A very special lesson today for these two!

Rhielle had her first ride on Russell today and the pair got along beautifully. Today was all about keeping things quiet, positive and allowing them to build confidence together.

Rhielle worked on walking, steering and navigating our poles and obstacles, while Russell took everything in his stride. 🐴

By the end of the lesson, Rhielle had decided that Russell was the horse for her and would love to continue riding him in her future lessons. 💙

We’re looking forward to watching this partnership develop and seeing what Rhielle and Russell can achieve together.

We are very excited to announce our School Holiday Walk & Trot Gymkhana Fun Day at From the Ground Up Equestrian Centre! 🎉

📅 Sunday 4 October 2026
⏰ 9:00am–3:00pm
💰 $150 per rider

A full day of horses, learning and fun, including groundwork, grooming, learning to lead, horsemanship activities, gymkhana games, riding activities and plenty more! 🐴

🌭 Morning tea and a sausage sizzle lunch are included.

💙 Open to current students AND new riders
💙 All abilities welcome, including complete beginners
💙 Walk & trot only — no cantering
💙 Parents/guardians are very welcome to stay and watch throughout the day.

Places are strictly limited, and we already have our first spot booked! 🎉

🐴💙 Someone was feeling good today! 💙🐴

Russell decided that quietly grazing with the herd was far too boring and it was time to stretch his legs and have a little run around the paddock 😂💨

We love seeing the horses enjoying their downtime, having plenty of room to move, graze and just be horses. 🥰🐴

Safe to say Russell was pretty pleased with himself!

Someone was feeling VERY fresh this afternoon 😂🐴
Jo-Jo walked nicely through the paddock gate and started heading down towards the yards like normal… then apparently decided walking was far too boring and took off 😂
He ran down to his yard, went into it and then realised the fence was coming up rather quickly — so he slammed on the brakes and left these impressive skid marks through the mud! 😳😂
Thankfully, Jo-Jo stopped before reaching the fence. He then headed back out to the paddock, trotting along before throwing in a rear and some bucks just to show everyone how fresh he was feeling 🤦‍♀️😂
Not bad for a boy who turns 20 this year! 💙🐴

Today we're celebrating the wonderful horses and ponies that make From the Ground Up Equestrian Centre such a special place. 💙🐴

Every lesson, they patiently teach confidence, kindness, responsibility and horsemanship. They look after our riders, build friendships, and help create memories that last a lifetime.

Confidence starts long before you get in the saddle. ❤️🐴
Our beautiful Russell, Rylee and Jo-Jo spent some quiet time saying hello to one of our 5-year-old riders who rides Jaxon.
Moments like these help children build confidence, learn to read horse behaviour, and develop a respectful partnership with horses from the ground up.
We're so proud of our horses for their gentle, kind nature and of our young riders for showing calm, respectful horse handling.
Every great horseperson starts with a simple hello. 🐴💙

🌟 Another Fantastic Lesson Today! 🌟
Today Rhielle and Jo-Jo continued building on their riding skills with a fun and productive lesson.
They worked on: 🐴 Fast walk and slow walk transitions. 🐴 Riding accurately between arena letters. 🐴 Changing direction. 🐴 Riding across the diagonals. 🐴 Developing better balance, steering and control.
Rhielle is becoming more confident with every lesson, and it was wonderful to see her asking Jo-Jo to lengthen and shorten his walk, as well as halt, using her own aids. Jo-Jo, as always, was a patient teacher and responded beautifully.
We're so proud of the progress Rhielle has made.
Well done, Rhielle! We can't wait to see what you achieve next. 💙🐴

🌟 A Wonderful First Riding Lesson! 🌟
We had the pleasure of welcoming Dehliah for her very first horse riding lesson at From the Ground Up Equestrian Centre. 🐴💙
The lesson began by introducing Dehliah to our gentle school horse, Jo-Jo. Using the mounting block, she was able to comfortably groom him from head to tail, giving her the chance to build trust and confidence before getting into the saddle.
Once mounted, Dehliah learnt the basics of riding and completed a barrel racing pattern at the walk while following her instructor. Before long, she was confidently steering Jo-Jo around the pattern independently at the walk.
To finish the lesson, as they rounded the third barrel, Dehliah experienced her very first trot with Jo-Jo being safely led all the way home. What a fantastic way to end such a special first lesson! 🎉
We are incredibly proud of everything Dehliah achieved in just one lesson. She showed great confidence, listened carefully, and embraced every new challenge with a smile.
A big thank you to Jo-Jo, who was his usual calm, patient, and gentle self, helping make Dehliah's first riding experience a memorable one. ❤️
Well done, Dehliah! We can't wait to see you back for your next lesson and watch your confidence continue to grow.
