Growing fuel prices, and dwindling fuel supply is making things tough for most of us. But spare a thought for our hardworking growers whose livelihood is so dependant on reliable fuel supply, and who seem to be getting the raw end of the deal at the moment.

Please do what you can to support our local farmers by buying fresh, local produce. Buying your fruit and veg through Box Divvy means you're buying from local and Australian growers, and they are getting paid fairly for their hard work.

Growers getting hit – in more ways than one 👩🏼‍🌾⛽

Earlier this week, Manuel Xerri reported the theft of his diesel tank with 6500 litres of diesel, worth over $20k, plus a pump and other farm equipment.
Luckily, it’s covered by insurance - but it left him with an uneasy feeling that even farms aren’t safe.

On a separate note: George Portelli was told by BP that if he wanted fuel for his farm (he hasn’t had the supply that was scheduled more than a month ago), he would have to pick it up himself.
That means: hiring a tanker and driver, and get a special license. He’s not happy about it, but in the end, it beats turning up to the market with a bunch of jerry cans.

Meanwhile, Steve Grima has put 3 extra locks on his sheds where he stores fuel and farm equipment 🔒🔒🔒

🥑 Avo lovers, this one’s for you!

At Box Divvy this week we are truly spoilt for choice with two fantastic avocado varieties on offer:

🥑 Shepard Avocados
🥑 Hass Avocados

✨ And the icing on the cake?
You can grab them individually or by the tray if you’re ready to stock up. Because let’s be honest… there’s no such thing as too many avocados! 😋

🤔 What’s the difference?

💚 Shepard Avocados
• In season February – May
• Stay bright green even when ripe
• Firm with mild & nutty flavour
• Don’t brown when cut – perfect for salads, lunchboxes and slicing

🖤 Hass Avocados
• Available most of the year, peak season May – January
• Famous for their rich, creamy, buttery texture
• Perfect for smashed avo, guacamole and spreads
• Skin darkens from green to purplish-black when ripe

🥑 Thinking about grabbing a tray but wondering what to do with so many?

💡 A few ideas:
• Share a tray with another member, friend or family
• Freeze mashed avocado for later
• Use them in fun recipes like:

🍕 Pesto avocado pizza
🥞 Herby avocado pancakes
🍮 Avocado crème brûlée
🥤 Iced avocado shake

📦 Tray options this week

🥑 Shepard tray – $22
23–28 fruit

🥑 Hass tray – $29
28–30 fruit

Those scrunchy plastics that usually end up in landfill now have a second life.

Thanks to Box Divvy partnering with RecycleSmart . Our Soft Plastics Recycling Bin is here🎉🥳

You may have spotted our bright pink Soft Plastics bin at the Hub!

Members can bring clean, dry soft plastics to be recycled instead of ending up in landfill 🚮

These plastics are sent to APR Plastics, where they are turned into food-grade bags that can be recycled again.

✅ What CAN go in the bin?

✅ Bread bags
✅ Chip & snack packets
✅ Fresh produce bags
✅ Bubble wrap
✅ Frozen food bags
✅ Pet food bags
✅ Resealable food bags
✅ Biscuit wrappers

👉 If you can scrunch it in your hand, it’s probably a soft plastic.

🚫 What CAN’T go in the bin

❌ Food or liquids
❌ Dirty packaging
❌ Rigid plastic containers
❌ Plastic trays
❌ Laminated paper
❌ Biodegradable or compostable bags

🚮 How it works

✔ Members pay nothing
✔ Bring clean, dry soft plastics to the Hub
✔ Pop them in the ReSmart bin near the collection area

Our Box Divvy driver will collect the liner each week if the bin is more than half full.

✨ Together we can reduce waste, keep plastics out of landfill, and give these tricky plastics a second life.

Come on Box Divvy community — let’s ditch landfill and show Australia how it’s done! 🌏♻️👭👫

Ok ok ok. The leaves are on the turn, the weather is increasingly cosy, you can deny it or you can lean into it wholeheartedly with hot cross buns and the other things autumn.
I’ve lit the fire and popped shepherds hot cross buns in my box divvy order, absolutely leaning into autumn 🍂.

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day and the incredible women who make up our Box Divvy community.

Our Hubsters, mostly women but we have wonderful men taking up the call for change too, are more than organisers of good food. They are community builders, change makers, and champions of Australian farmers.

Many of you are women who have stepped up to create food communities right in your neighbourhoods, bringing people together around fresh, affordable produce.

You’re making real change every single week by:
• Building stronger neighbourhood connections
• Making fresh, healthy food more accessible to families
• Supporting Australian farming families to keep doing what they do best, growing food and food wholesalers who feed our nation
• Leading with generosity, care and purpose
• Lifting each other up and showing what collaboration looks like

Being part of this network means knowing you’re never doing it alone. You’re one of many passionate women who believe food can bring people together and that small local actions can create big collective impact.

Today we celebrate the leadership, resilience and heart that you bring to your hubs and your communities.

We’re incredibly proud to stand alongside so many inspiring women who are helping grow something bigger than all of us.
Happy International Women’s Day to our amazing Box Divvy Hubsters.

Thank you for the difference you make.

This week our family ordered the 5 kilo box of cherry tomatoes 🍅

As usual, when unpacking our order I got a bit panicky, the pressure to make the most of something so delicious and bountiful, as usual, 3 days in its half gone and I had no reason to panic at all.
We love a box of amazing quality produce that’s in season, perfectly ripe and ready to be enjoyed 🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅
