Vale Catherine ‘Cate’ Ashdown of Glengarry Welsh Cobs.
While Cates time in Tasmania was only a few years, I was privileged to serve as her hoof care provider for the last 12 months or so. Initially engaged to help with a laminitis mare, and then Cate would slide in with “I’d really like your opinion on this one” or “the babies are ready for their first trims”
Cate was an incredible horsewoman and the perfect client behind any doubt and I was saddened when the news came they were moving back to Queensland. Excited for the adventure at hand, I enjoyed the journey she and her amazing partner Gorden took searching for another property to perfect and call their own.
Dedicated to breeding Cobs of an international
Standard, and having travelled to the UK I always commended Cate on the outstanding quality of her stock because her and Gordon truly had the eye for quality and improving and maintaining the standard.
A committed horsewoman, her horses care was paramount and I will always remember her most fondly for that attribute.
From her 2 stallions, young c**t, to her beautiful band of mares care was never a question.
I was contacted earlier this week by another hoofcare provider who had also worked for her in Tasmania, who conveyed the news of which I am shocked.
Cate was truly a beautiful person, and was surrounded by her family in her passing, I was truly privileged to have known her.
