Our beautiful caring daughter has decided to do 31 for 31 which is a cancer council fund raiser designed to help people going through the hard fight just like i am atm.
Funds raised help with many things like support services.
Just today the cancer council has help me with preparing my will, they can help with some bills and travel to appointments and so many other thing that can be difficult when challenged with cancer.

As a support person to my cancer keeping a strong body and mind is important so this challenge is so right for her at this time.

Please click the link and read her words and encourage her to say F Cancer. Any donation however small is very welcome.

We may even organise a 31min walk and bring some of the flock to keep her focused.
We will update with her progress and even if you cant donate please share around and follow along.

Thankyou everyone for the well wishes. I am back at home and feeling much better.
It will be a long fight this time but when you have supports such as pictured the fight is worth it for every minute of every day.

We have a lot that will change and we hope to keep bringing positive updates.

I will also share when able to what the cancer journey is like with parrots.

Over the years I had many people question different aspects of my last fight and parrot life. There is a lot to consider for health of both human and parrot when fighting cancer.
A lot of misinformation and a lot of incomplete or just generally bad advice can crowd an already very difficult time.

Atm I am not undergoing chemo which has special precautions that need to be followed.

These two (as well as the rest of the flock) have been so sweet and gentle since I came home. When you have good relationships with your birds they know and respond to what's going on in such supriseing and thoughtful ways.

Currently they are both asking for kisses every chance they get.
Luna who is at the end of her teenager phase and like many Scarlett's can still be a bit over stimulated at times is being the gentlest i have ever seen her.

Today’s post is a difficult one for us to share.

Unfortunately, we need to let you know that Melissa’s cancer has returned.

Because of this, we have had to make some incredibly tough decisions. One of the hardest has been choosing not to bring Dina the Green Wing Macaw into our flock.

We are incredibly grateful to her breeder, Linda from Macaws & More, who has committed to finding Dina the best home possible—one where she will thrive with the time, stability, and dedication she deserves.

Although we never had the chance to meet her, Dina was already deeply loved by both Nathan and Melissa. This decision was made with a heavy heart, but ultimately in the best interest of her welfare and future.

Many of you know Melissa as the heart behind Majick Feathers—the one who has dedicated her life to understanding parrots, building trust through training, and helping others create stronger, more positive relationships with their birds. Her journey has always been one of resilience, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of every feathered friend she meets.

As she begins treatment again, our focus is where it needs to be—on her health, her strength, and giving her the time and space to rest and recover. At the same time, we are ensuring that the birds currently in our flock continue to receive the care, enrichment, and attention they deserve each and every day.

We will also be stepping back from a number of Majick Feathers shows, events, and business activities for the time being. This pause allows us to prioritise what matters most right now—Melissa’s wellbeing and the continued care of our flock.

Majick Feathers has always stood for “Training Over Taming,” and at its core, that philosophy is about respect, patience, and making the best choices for those in our care—even when those choices are incredibly hard.

We truly appreciate the support, kindness, and understanding from this amazing community. Your messages, encouragement, and continued support mean more than we can put into words.

We’ll share updates when we can. For now, thank you for standing with us
