🐾FRIDAY FEATURE🐾

In the words of her parents:
Lulu is an 11-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback who made an incredible journey to Australia from East Africa with her devoted mum and dad. Her adventure came in two big stages—first from Tanzania to Germany (via Istanbul) in December 2019, and then from Hamburg to Melbourne (via Dubai) in February 2020. After a 10-day quarantine in Melbourne, she finally made it home—just two weeks before the COVID borders closed!

Now living her best life on Kangaroo Island, Lulu loves wide open spaces, beach walks, and endless sniffing adventures. Once a super active girl, she’s now gracefully embracing her “distinguished” years.

Despite a lifetime of good health, Lulu recently faced a scare when a benign tumour on her spleen caused bleeding. Thanks to Jodi and the incredible KI Vet team, she received life-saving surgery and exceptional aftercare—her family couldn’t be more grateful ❤️

Lulu’s favourite things? Cheese, roast chicken, and “helping” with dinner prep every evening. She’s also a sun worshipper who loves to bask in the warmth—but isn’t a fan of “acid” rain!

She regularly travels to visit her human brother and his family in the Barossa, and absolutely adores the car and ferry rides—clearly a traveller at heart.

Deeply loved (and wonderfully spoiled), Lulu has her mum and dad completely wrapped around her paws 💕

A great way to help keep sand from accumulating, which is a very common occurrence at this time of year when pastures are starting to shoot, and horses are keen to get every scrap of green, they lay their eyes on!

Say hi to Tilly - aka Leo's best friend!
Her favourite toy is a pink unicorn. She has a bit of a green thumb - enjoying carrying around and chewing up plant pots and old buckets and "helping mum" (or not helping) by pulling up plants and digging in the garden! She likes to sleep under her bed rather than on it and is not a ball chaser but rather a chaser of those who have the ball!

She's a quirky girl having barked at a parked kid's bike for an hour this morning because it was suddenly scary. What a sweetheart.

Mango was a surprise puppy out of her mother who was here in boarding!
She is 2 and a half years old and a regular visitor to the clinic to say hi. Mango is a little pocket rocket who will paw at the ground when she gets fired up to go somewhere, like a car revving its engine before takeoff 🚀We all love you miss Mango 🥭💛

Today we introduce Acorn, Crumbs, Pibble and Pepsi.
The iconic group of guinea pigs.
Crumbs is a food hog and a cage hog!
Acorn likes to be centre of attention, lapping up all of the cuddles and grumpy if not being cuddled!
Pepsi is an introvert, likes being by herself and gets annoyed easily.
Pibble is a little sweetheart, loves to be held and is the kindest and youngest of them all.

Everyone meet Billy!
Billy is an 8 year old ex-racehorse that has been retired for 1 year.
His racing career was successful, winning over $260 000 in prize money and even taking gold in the 2023 KI Cup. In his retirement from racing, Billy is bit of a sloth - taking things slowly and being a chilled-out dude! One of his favourite things to do is going for a leisurely stroll on the beach and annoying his paddock mate Walter. He is a handsome man which has earnt him several top marks in the local shows.

Meet the little man Otis.
At 11 weeks old he is a pup of many talents!
He already knows how to sit, shake, heel and lie down although the toilet training is taking a bit longer with his favourite spot to leave a mess being his grandparents' bedroom!!!
Otis is a clinic favourite often visiting when his mum is at work.
We can't wait to watch you grow into a big, good boy!

Say hello to Durban aka Leo's best friend!
A typical rescue dog - loves the beach, never does what he's told, couch potato.
Some of his quirks involve blowing bubbles when swimming and only liking his carrots peeled! His best command is roll over - his worst command is listening.
At almost 9 years old he doesn't act a day over 6 months!
Although he sounds like a menace, he is very loved and manages to stay in the good books 🥰
