💙 Change Can Be Challenging, But Change Can Also Be Positive 💙

At SAFE, every decision we make is guided by one question:

How do we ensure we can continue helping animals not just today, but for many years to come?

Sustainability is not about doing what is easiest. It is about doing what is necessary to build an organisation that can continue saving lives long after the current volunteers, foster carers, coordinators, managers and board members have moved on.

SAFE has been helping animals for decades because passionate people before us were willing to make difficult decisions that strengthened the organisation for the future. Today, we have the same responsibility to those who will come after us.

Change can feel uncomfortable. It can raise questions and create uncertainty. But standing still is not always the safest option. Sometimes growth requires us to adapt, improve our systems, strengthen our governance, and ensure that every dollar, every volunteer hour and every resource is used as effectively as possible for the animals in our care.

Our commitment remains unchanged.

🐾 Saving companion animals from unnecessary euthanasia.
🐾 Supporting foster carers and volunteers.
🐾 Finding suitable homes for animals in need.
🐾 Building a sustainable future for animal welfare in Western Australia.

The faces involved may change over time. Processes may evolve. New ideas may be introduced. But our purpose remains the same.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support SAFE, whether you volunteer, foster, adopt, donate, transport animals, fundraise, advocate, or simply share our posts. Together, we are building something that will continue making a difference for animals long into the future.

Because our focus is not just on today.

It is on ensuring Our Future is SAFE. 💙

SAFE Karratha are still seeking care for this mum and her pups.

URGENT FOSTER CARER NEEDED TODAY

This beautiful little mum and her six 10-day-old puppies need a safe place to go.

Please don’t be put off by the puppies. At this age they simply feed, sleep and stay close to mum. She takes care of all their needs.

All we are asking for is a safe, quiet space for mum, regular toilet breaks, and lots of love while she cares for her babies.

She can be quite fearful of men so ideally we are looking for a foster home with a female where she can have her own area away from male interaction while she settles.

SAFE will provide food, bedding, supplies and ongoing support.

If you can help, please get in touch urgently. A safe place today could save this little family.

🐾 We're just over one-third of the way there... but with only 9 days left until EOFY, we still have a long way to go.

Every day, SAFE volunteers work tirelessly to save animals that have nowhere else to go. From emergency veterinary treatment and foster care to transport, microchipping and desexing, every dollar donated helps give vulnerable cats and dogs a second chance.

As a foster-based rescue, we don't have shelters or government funding. We rely on the generosity of our community to continue saving more than 4,000 animals each year across Western Australia.

If you've been thinking about making a donation before the end of the financial year, now is the time. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us continue our lifesaving work.

Together, we can ensure more animals get the care, safety and opportunities they deserve.

🐾 Adoption Update – Daphne & Dandy 💛

We’re so happy to share a beautiful update on Daphne and Dandy, who were adopted on the 6th of May 💛

Here’s a lovely message from their adopter:

“We’ve adopted Daphne and Dandy last 6th May, and our house was never the same (with a little mess and so much running around)☺️

I never thought I would be this attached to a cat (or cats), as I am a ‘dog person’ and I didn’t like cats back then 😅 But here we are—with not just one cat but two: Dandy and Daphne in our house!!

Dandy is a cuddly boy—he loves being cuddled most of the time, and our eldest loves Dandy more than Daphne I guess. However, our youngest loves Daphne. She likes to chase and carry her, but unfortunately Daphne—unlike Dandy—is quite cranky and mostly just wants to be left alone. But somehow she still ends up in our youngest’s lap or arms anyway (without a choice).

We love both of them! They are not just our pets—the moment they entered our home, Dandy and Daphne became part of our growing family!!

Thank you SAFE for this opportunity!!! Big thanks to Sue and foster carer for helping out and for a smooth transition as well. Thanks everyone. For those who are thinking of getting pets, please adopt and give them a chance to experience the beauty of living, loving and being loved.” 💛🐾
