Skypuppy School

Dog training for confident dogs and happy humans! Emphasis is placed on play & relationship building.

Skypuppy School emphasises engagement, relationship, and play as the foundation of dog training. We prioritise social responsibility and practical skills over traditional obedience. Our mission is to build trust and communication between dogs and their humans by educating owners about their furry friends' behaviour and how to develop a strong bond. Skypuppy School offers small group classes in Canberra and plans to hold private training sessions in 2024 to enhance play and engagement techniques.

Are you coming to the Howloween Street Cred at Boogong?? 🦇🎃

We are meeting at 4pm Saturday afternoon at Googong and all good boys and ghouls are welcome! Nobody does Halloween quite like Googong and it's always a super fun walk. It's best suited to confident handlers though as the trick or treating goes off! 👻

I suggest that the humans dress up, and dogs only if they are cool with it. My tiny bat outta hellhound actually hates costumes. Can you tell?!

Term 4 classes are now open for booking!

Thanks for your patience while I finalised my November–December schedule. You can now book Primary Connections and SR Skills.

Both classes will run on Sunday afternoons on a casual basis at Brindabella Business Park.

This is a small change for Primary Connections, which previously ran indoors as a 4‑week block. Now you simply book the weeks that suit you. Come to one, or come every week.

🐶 Primary Connections remains a puppy foundations class, and now that we’re outdoors the recommended age range is 16 weeks to 6 months. New clients welcome.

⭐ SR Skills remains a mixed‑level class, with a focus on building solid SR foundations around distractions and working towards passing the SR1 test from GRC Dogsports. This class is open to anyone who has trained with Skypuppy School and wants to continue regular training. New students should get in touch before booking.

⚠️ We spotted our first brown snake today. Whilst this is always scary with dogs, its part of life in Australia.

🐍 Awareness is super important. Stick to clear paths and pay attention to where your dogs are sniffing, especially when around water or bushland areas.

🐍 Having a solid recall is a non-negotiable skill. I also keep my dogs on long lines over summer regardless of their ability to be off-lead and under control.

⛑️ If your dog does get bit, keep them still, apply a pressure bandage if possible and call ahead to the vets so they know you are coming.

I've decided to hold off on starting Trail Cred until the weather cools again. This means the Skypuppy Canihiking Club will launch Autumn 2027. We will stick to Street Cred over the warmer months.

Konnichiwa! Hello from Japan. 👋🏽 I'm having a wonderful time traveling and part of me doesn't want to come home. 🍣🦌🏯 But a lot of me misses my dogs and I can't wait to see them again.

I'll be home next week and will be finalising Term 4 classes soon after that. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at Floriade Sunday week too.
