Super quick morning at Esk Show with Tena. Some lovely horses out in the rings but not very busy. Unfortunately no welsh stallion ridden classes, only mare and gelding, and unfortunately stallions arent allowed in hack classes ๐Ÿ˜’
We placed:
๐Ÿฅ‡1st Pure Welsh Stallion
๐Ÿ… Reserve Champion Pure Welsh Pony

Thanks to the committee, judges, stewards and all involved with making the show run.
Huge thanks to Redmond's Pet & Livestock Supplies for keeping my stud muffin looking and performing at his best.

The stud muffin super excited to have his rug off ๐ŸŽ Rumba was happy to be naked too and sit out with me while Tena ran laps lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ Rumba isnโ€™t up to moving much yet but i think he enjoys just being out of the stable. I get it man ๐Ÿซ  im the same at the moment, hurts to move but good to be out in the sunlight โ˜€๏ธ

Absolutely fantastic morning out with Tena at Marburg Show doing his first ever ridden event. Despite the windy weather, he did pretty damn well if you ask us. We started with his led classes, placing:
๐Ÿฅˆ2nd Best Presented Welsh
๐Ÿฅ‡1st Sect B Welsh Stallion/Colt
๐Ÿ†Champion Sect B Welsh
Then we saddled up for a ridden class. He was super nervous at first so dad led us around for a bit to let him settle. I know people will all be like "eww you were led, you're an adult", you know what, I would rather be safe and make my pony feel safe then go out there trying to be a hero to impress people. And yes I had toe stoppers on my stirrups cause you know what, safety! Tena really tried his little heart out, a few little hiccups but in all, it was still pretty great and we didn't die lol. He placed:
๐Ÿฅ‡1st Ridden Welsh Colt/Stallion All Sects
We went into the Champion/Reserve class but obviously we aren't gonna win against seasoned show ponies.

I have to thank my awesome parents keeping their cool and keeping me organised, being awesome supporters like that, taking a million photos on both the camera and their phones ๐Ÿ’–Facebook only let me put 80pics to this post lol So had to pick and choose what ones to use. I have some videos but facebook won't upload them ๐Ÿ˜‘
๐Ÿ’–I must also thank our amazing sponsers Redmond's Pet & Livestock Supplies for keeping Tena looking and feeling superb! ๐Ÿ’–

But I must have a bit of a b*tch about the other competitors, with absolutely no etiquette. We alerted everyone nearby that he is indeed a stallion and to keep some space, thats what the big ass green disks on his head are for, and we told them he is only green broke and its his first ever ridden event but what do people do?! Ride right up beside, around and behind us, just to make a nervous horse more nervous. I kinda wish one chick that came up close behind us got close enough to be kicked by Tena but he is too good of a boy to do that even when it made him upset. There is the whole arena to ride in but no, they gotta come close to annoy us, its almost like they were worried we would beat their seasoned ponies so they had to stir the pot *eyeroll* Yes I know he has to get used to being in crowded situations but not at his first show.

Some tender loving care and pampering for Rumba today. A nice long wash, insect repellent rinse, good brush, tail plaited and bagged, and his hooves had a long soak in an epson salt bath while he munched away on yummy rhodes hay. Clean rug and back to the stable for a rest. I got onto the vet today about starting him on the cushings medication, it cant hurt to try it and see if it helps. Adding some things to his diet had picked up his body condition a bit but its not as nice as it used to be.

What an awesome long weekend co-hosting with Changing Leads Equine for our ANZAC confidence camp. It was so good to see so many smiling faces. I'm so glad to hear the good feedback and that I could help everyone learn, build their confidence and relationship with their horses. The whole camp enviroment was so understanding of each other's difficultities. Even when I wasn't feeling great while my pain flared up massively, it felt so good to have everyone there helping me through it and being patient until I felt good enough to continue. Im so grateful for all the help. Im glad everyone enjoyed my demo with little Mr Tena. He might of kept us all awake the first night with his crying, his first night away from home without Rumba, but Im glad he settled so everyone could understand the demo with him. I was so busy taking so many photos of everyone else, I must Thank Sam for getting photos of me with my little man.
I selected a few of my favourite pics I took during the weekend to show how much everyone enjoyed themselves.

Getting some practice in for our demos on the weekend, Tena has to take Rumbaโ€™s place

Pony Training

Welcome to my page for my new pony training business. My name is Katherine Godley and my little pony is Rumba, aka Chappell Park Athens, a 5 going on 6 year old Welsh B Gelding who Iโ€™ve owned since he was 2 years old and have broken to Harness and Saddle by myself. Rumba has his own unique story behind his training and an even more unique personality.

I've been around horses nearly my entire life with my deep passion for finding and learning new things as well as trying different methods for training since every equine is unique. For the last few years I've been working on a pony stud breaking and starting ponies right from foal, plus breaking my own at home for both harness and ridden. Iโ€™ve always worked with various types of horses but found my smaller size was great for working with ponies, since itโ€™s always hard to find someone experienced yet small enough to work with those smaller equines.

My goal is to build a business training and breaking ponies to make great quiet family equines. Iโ€™d love to one day have the full facilities with the potential to start up riding and/or driving lessons as well as breaking and starting. For now though, I will be having one horse in training at all times for clients where I will take the horses to shows and get all the miles they need before they can be sold off as good quiet equines or returned with more experience.

I hope to learn more and improve my skills along the way to make better and quieter horses that everyone can enjoy, new family members that will last a lifetime.
