We soon found out he w

as in fact a she!! LOL Then my granddad gave us a red factor canary named Mango, yes he was a real boy LOL ... I liked them so much so I purchased my first breeding pair and breeding box and things have just blossomed from there :) After purchasing more unrelated pairs I have bred 10 babies since then and now my breeding stock has expanded :) My first hand reared little one was cheeky Chibi then Tiki which made me realize just how cute and cuddly these little guys are and wanted to let everyone experience having a little fluffy friend of their own, hence my breeding programme begins....With the careful selection of pairs I intend to breed and sell you quality tame and most of all 'Cuddly Canaries'

πŸŽ‰πŸ¦ It’s Feathered Friends Friday, my beautiful birdie fam! πŸ¦πŸŽ‰

For today's post I have some adorable update photos of the sweet little ringbabies 😍 They are growing up so fast, with the eldest baby officially starting to learn to fly as of yesterday πŸ€©πŸ’œπŸ’š

Seeing their older sibling take flight has got the other lil babies super excited by the whole idea. They are all watching very intently, though they haven't quite committed to launching themselves off just yet, I'm sure it won't be long before we see all 4 little cutie pies zooming around the room πŸ₯ΉπŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ’œ

Watching them build up their confidence and explore their independence is always one of our absolute favorite parts of raising featherbabies πŸ₯°

πŸ“Έ I'd love to see your feathered friends too!

πŸŽ‰πŸ¦ It’s Feathered Friends Friday, my lovely birdie fam! πŸ¦πŸŽ‰

Canary breeding season has officially kicked off in our aviary, and I just had to share a little look at what our cheeky little girls have been up to lately 🐦🌾

Whenever we step inside the aviary right now, the girls are completely chill and absolutely brazen with absolutely no hesitation about landing straight on us to try and steal our hair to line their nests πŸ˜„ Just this week these little girlies here were caught searching for the perfect nesting material πŸͺΉ Because they are so comfortable hitching a ride, we have to be extra cautious whenever we leave the aviary now, double checking yourself every single time because you never know who might be secretly sitting on top of you as you exit the door πŸšͺπŸ˜‚πŸ¦

It is such a busy but magical time of year, and watching their clever nesting skills is always so much fun πŸ’›πŸŒΏ

πŸ“Έ I'd love to see your feathered friends too!

πŸŽ‰πŸ¦ It’s Feathered Friends Friday, my wonderful birdie fam! πŸ¦πŸŽ‰

Today is all about our beautiful girl Lulu and her evening routine πŸ₯° Every single evening when it is time to head inside, she gets so adorably excited to come into her bedroom cage and is so very playful and energetic about it, doing her rolly poly tumble around and just having a total spazzy play session before she finally goes to bed for the night πŸ₯ΉπŸ›Œβœ¨

Caiques are known for being absolute clowns, and Lulu is the perfect example of just how much big, goofy personality can fit into one bird πŸ€ͺ🦜Watching her flip around and be such a joyful little weirdo is the absolute best way to end the day πŸ’›πŸ§‘πŸ’š

πŸ“Έ I'd love to see your feathered friends too!

πŸŽ‰πŸ¦ It’s Feathered Friends Friday, my lovely birdie fam! πŸ¦πŸŽ‰

Today is about a lil showdown between Baby Bird, Ocean, and Bug πŸ˜„ Mum recently purchased a special travel backpack for Bug so she could bring her along on outings more often, and while we were setting it up, Ocean and BB got a little bit jealous and decided they needed to jump in and have a geez too πŸŽ’πŸ¦œπŸ¦œ As soon as they both popped inside, it completely turned into an "I'll get you" session between them all which thankfully the clear barrier kept them completely safe from each other πŸ˜… They all certainly have some big, feisty personalities in such tiny bodies πŸ˜‚

πŸ“Έ I'd love to see your feathered friends too!

This is what our food prep looks like for our birdies, a selection of peas, corn, green beans, carrot, sweet potato, pumpkin, cauliflower, brown rice, quinoa, kale, silverbeet, capsicum, broccoli, papaya, orange, apple, Vetafarm Nutriblend Pellets mini and vitamins Vetafarm Soluvite D and D Nutrical 🀩

The 1st photo is frozen veggies peas, carrot, cauliflower, broccoli stem, corn and green beans. We will then add to this frozen mix lightly steamed pumpkin and sweet potato (although birds can eat this raw, we like to steam it a little to release more of the nutrients, giving the birds more health benefits out of the root vegetables) and proteins cooked brown rice and quinoa, this is then all popped into the freezer ❄️
In the 2nd photo we prepare every second day fresh chopped kale, silverbeet, broccoli and capsicum (the red one is the most nutritious), and 3rd photo is prepped daily, so for today is was the apple, orange and papaya mix, which we'll change around to keep it in moderation.
Fourth photo is the Vetafarm Nutriblend Pellets mini that's also sprinkled into the mix each day, with Soluvite D added to the mix daily, and D Nutrical during breeding and occasional maintenance dose (if anyone doesn't know by now, we love Vetafarm products and always highly recommend them πŸ’™)
And in the final photo you'll find it all mixed together in today's bucket ☺️ We'll also add into it occasionally some boiled egg (which we did do today) and the Red Tractor Flax, H**p & Chia meal.

Our birdies are always keenly waiting for their mix every morning, and will completely bypass the fresh daily seed we'll put in for a taste of the good stuff first πŸ˜‹

πŸŽ‰πŸ¦ It’s Feathered Friends Friday, my lovely birdie fam! πŸ¦πŸŽ‰

Today I wanted to share a little update on what our gorgeous cockatiels Charlie and Chadwick have been up to lately 🦜🦜 After taking a nice little break from nesting, Charlie surprised us by laying four eggs, and we've been eagerly calculating exactly when the sweet little babies should have started hatching πŸ£πŸ—“οΈ
We went to check on the nest today, but sadly found that in all their eagerness to be parents, all four eggs are clear. It really sucks for them to have gone through the whole dedicated process of sitting and caring for the clutch only to not have anything hatch from it this time around πŸ₯šπŸ₯šπŸ₯šπŸ₯š

But if you know cockatiels, you know just how resilient and determined they can be πŸ₯° They certainly aren't discouraged and are already keen to try again, as soon as we cleaned out and completely refreshed their nest box today, they both rushed right back inside to inspect it and start planning their next round ✨ Breeding always comes with its ups and downs, but watching their dedicated partnership and strong parental instincts is always so beautiful to see πŸ§‘πŸ’›

πŸ“Έ I'd love to see your feathered friends too!

There is nothing quite like the magic of hatch day 😍 We’ve been glued to our incubator these last few days, and we are so proud to have had a 100% hatch rate with our very own Light Barred Plymouth Rock eggs, 7 out of 7 🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣
If you'd like to incubate your own, we have collected 6 fresh eggs ready to go now, $30 for the half dozen (pickup welcome or happy to express post at an extra cost) πŸ₯šπŸ₯šπŸ₯šπŸ₯šπŸ₯šπŸ₯š

We used the Janoel 24 incubator and tweaked the heat and arranged the humidity using an independent digital and analog temp gauge, which once calibrated, temp would fluctuate between 37.2 to 38Β°C, and humidity for the first 18 days between 40 to 50%, then after lockdown, 50 to 60% was just right for our bator, we had even run a bit of a test and had some of the eggs stored for nearly two weeks, so it's so very exciting to have these results πŸ₯°
So if you'd like to hatch your own Plymouth Rock eggs let me know πŸ₯šπŸ£
