We've got something new joining the Power Puddles botanicals range – Dried Banana Leaves! 🍌

Banana leaves are a great natural addition to freshwater aquariums and offer quite a few benefits as they slowly break down in the water.

Here's why they're worth adding to your tanks 👇

🌿 Natural Tannins
As the leaves break down, they release tannins and other organic compounds into the water, creating a light tea-coloured tint and helping recreate a more natural blackwater environment.

🦐 A Natural Food Source
As the leaves soften, biofilm begins to develop on their surface. This creates a natural grazing spot for shrimp, snails and even tiny fry.

🐟 Extra Cover & Hiding Spots
The leaves provide natural shelter for fish and shrimp, giving smaller or more timid inhabitants somewhere to hide and feel comfortable.

💧 Natural Water Conditioning
The tannins and organic compounds released during decomposition can help create softer, more acidic water conditions, depending on your existing water parameters.

🌱 Slow Breakdown
Banana leaves gradually soften and break down over time, continuing to provide biofilm and a natural food source for your aquarium inhabitants.

🐟 A LITTLE BIT ABOUT GRASS GUPPIES!

Grass Guppies are known for their beautiful fine, spotted patterns, which have been developed through years of selective breeding.

Their history traces back to mosaic-pattern guppies imported into Japan from Singapore during the late 1960s. Japanese breeders gradually refined these patterns, creating the smaller, finer spots that give Grass Guppies their name.

There are several colour variations, including Red Grass and Yellow Grass, each with its own unique look.

These beautiful houseplants grow with their roots submerged in your aquarium while their foliage grows above the waterline. Not only do they look amazing, but their roots can also help absorb excess nutrients from your aquarium water! 💧🌿

At 1:30pm, the duckweed was covering the water… fast forward to 7pm and LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE! 🤯😂 My Ranchus have absolutely demolished it! 💚

Duckweed is a fantastic natural supplement for goldfish, providing fibre and protein while encouraging their natural foraging behaviours. It can also help absorb excess nutrients from the water! 🌱

I think it’s safe to say this floating buffet has been a HUGE hit! 😂🙌🏻💚

Even the tiniest Bristlenose babies love a good munch on our mulberry leaves! 🐟💚

Mulberry leaves are a great addition to the fish room, helping encourage natural biofilm growth and giving these little guys something extra to graze on as they grow. 🙌🏻✨️

🦝🦐 RACCOON TIGER SHRIMP AVAILABLE! 🦐🦝

Something a little different for the shrimp lovers! 👀🖤

These gorgeous little shrimp from Ming Long Glenn Ng stand out with their bold black tiger stripes and unique raccoon-like facial markings. Such a cool addition to a shrimp setup! ✨

These guys have been bred and raised in Goldcoast tapwater ✨️

🌿 A little about their care:
💧 Temperature: 18–24°C
🧪 pH: 6.0–7.5
🌱 Best kept in a mature, stable aquarium with plenty of moss, plants and biofilm to graze on.

Like most Caridina, they appreciate stable water parameters and a well-established tank rather than sudden changes.
