Every step towards comfort is worth celebrating.

This lovely senior boy recently injured himself after becoming caught in his rug, leaving him with muscle tension through his neck and shoulder, as well as a cut that is still healing.

During his assessment, he was quite sensitive through those areas, but as his acupuncture treatment progressed, you could see him begin to relax. By the end of the session, the horse that had been guarding those sore muscles was happily leaning into a gentle massage and enjoying every minute of it.

Watching horses become more comfortable and start to trust touch again is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

While recovery takes time and every horse responds differently, I'm hopeful this handsome boy is well on his way to feeling more like himself again. 💛

A yawn says more than words ever could...

This gorgeous Friesian came in with muscle tension through his back and poll.

As his acupuncture treatment progressed, it was lovely to watch him completely unwind. His body softened, his eyes relaxed, and before long, the yawns began. 😴

Yawning, along with other signs such as licking, chewing and a softened expression, can often be seen as horses begin to relax during treatment.

Every horse is unique, but seeing them let go of tension and become more comfortable is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

Not every horse starts relaxed… but every horse deserves the chance to feel comfortable.

This lovely buckskin mare was quite nervous when we first met. During her assessment, she was carrying a lot of tension through her back.

As the needles were placed, some of the tight muscles "grabbed" them, and she reacted by kicking out once—a normal response that can happen when very tight muscles begin to release. With a little reassurance, she quickly settled and became more comfortable throughout the session.

By the end of her treatment, she was standing quietly, her eyes had softened, and she was almost asleep. 💛

After removing the needles (including one that had bent into a full "Z" shape from that initial muscle tension!), I followed up with a gentle massage, which she absolutely leaned into and enjoyed.

The best part? She walked away looking more comfortable, had a big roll back in the paddock, and was soon cantering around happily playing with her paddock mate. Moments like these are why I love what I do.

I had the pleasure of meeting this beautiful mare for her acupuncture session recently.

During her assessment, she showed muscle tension and tenderness through her back and hindquarters. Throughout the treatment, she remained calm and relaxed, making her an absolute pleasure to work with.

After her acupuncture session, I finished with a gentle massage over the areas of tension. It was lovely to see her becoming noticeably more comfortable and much less sensitive to touch by the end of the session.

These small changes are why I love what I do—helping horses feel more comfortable in their bodies so they can move and perform with greater ease. 💛

This gorgeous boy was treated with acupuncture before finishing with a gentle massage over his areas of tension.

Just watch his response...

The leaning into the massage, the head nods, the tongue hanging out, and the completely relaxed expression all tell a story of their own. These are the little moments I love seeing as horses begin to release tension and become more comfortable.

Every horse responds differently, but it's always rewarding to watch them soften, relax and enjoy the process.

From guarded… to completely relaxed.

Today I treated this gorgeous boy, who was showing muscle tension through his neck, shoulders and back.

As the acupuncture treatment progressed, it was incredible to watch him slowly let go of that tension. His body softened, his eyes became heavy, and by the time all the needles were in, he was almost asleep. 💛

After removing the needles, I followed up with a gentle massage over his tightest areas. The difference was remarkable. The horse who initially didn't want me palpating along his neck was now leaning firmly into the massage, nodding with each stroke, and even letting his tongue hang out in complete relaxation.

Those little moments tell such a powerful story. Licking and chewing, soft eyes, leaning into touch and a relaxed posture are all wonderful signs that a horse is feeling more comfortable.

Every horse responds differently, but seeing them release tension and begin to relax is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

Supporting horses to perform at their best

I recently had the pleasure of treating a lovely eventing horse as part of her preparation for a return to competition.

As she builds fitness and muscle strength, some muscle soreness is to be expected. During today's assessment, she showed discomfort through the mid-back region and hindquarters, areas that commonly work hard as horses return to training and competition.

Following her acupuncture treatment, she became noticeably more relaxed and comfortable. She went from showing signs of tension and sensitivity to accepting a gentle massage with ease, accompanied by plenty of licking and chewing, along with a softening of the eye—great indicators of relaxation and comfort.

It's always rewarding to see horses settle into treatment and respond so positively.

I'm looking forward to following her progress, supporting her through her return to competition, and seeing how she performs at her upcoming events. 💛
