Bringing your puppy home is such an exciting time, but those first few weeks are also about helping them learn how to feel safe, settled and confident in their new environment. 🤎

One of the things we highly recommend to our Melray’s Puppies families is setting up a puppy playpen from day one.

A playpen isn’t about restricting your puppy or putting them away — it’s about creating their very own safe little space where they can rest, play, learn and gradually adjust to life in their new home. 🏡🐶

Your puppy doesn’t need access to the entire house straight away. Freedom is something we recommend increasing gradually as your puppy learns the rules of their new home.

Those little routines you establish in the first few weeks can make such a difference to the confident, well-adjusted dog your puppy grows into.

Where has the time gone? It feels like only yesterday these precious babies fit in the palm of our hands, and now they’re confident, playful little adventurers ready to begin the next chapter of their lives.

Over the past 8 weeks they’ve been busy learning and growing every single day. They’ve been introduced to household noises, started crate and toilet training, explored new environments, enjoyed enrichment activities, and received endless cuddles and love to help build confident, well-rounded temperaments.

Watching this litter grow has been such a privilege, and while it’s always bittersweet to say goodbye, nothing makes us happier than seeing our puppies head off to loving forever homes where they’ll become treasured family members.

If your puppy is nipping, mouthing or chewing on your hands, take a deep breath… this is completely normal! Puppies explore their world with their mouths, especially while they’re teething, playing and learning how to interact with us.

The key isn’t to punish the behaviour—it’s to teach them what is appropriate.

✨ Redirect biting onto suitable toys.
✨ End play calmly if biting becomes too rough.
✨ Reward gentle interactions.
✨ Stay consistent—every member of the family should respond the same way.

Remember, biting isn’t your puppy being “naughty.” It’s simply communication and part of growing up. With patience, consistency and positive guidance, this stage will pass, and you’ll be rewarded with a gentle, well-mannered companion.

Our Paw Patrol Cavoodles are officially 6 weeks old, and this week has been full of exciting milestones! Their little personalities are shining brighter every day, and no two puppies are the same.

They’re becoming more confident as they explore the world around them, learning through play, tackling new enrichment activities, building coordination, and growing into curious, happy little companions. From zoomies with their siblings to quiet cuddle sessions, every day is packed with learning, fun, and unforgettable moments.
