Given the postponement of our Hickstead Derby event, sponsored by Horseland Dural and Stockman Rural Supplies to 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 due to the relentless rain, we are planning on a Hickstead Derby jumping practice day with SJ grading for PCA members up to C grade THIS SUNDAY!

You can come along to both jump show jumps and derby cross country fences such as brush, brick wall and barrels. You can jump a whole round or you might just want to pick and choose which jumps you want to try. It's all about a fun day out with your horse and your friends.

We know it's been a wet few weeks and horses have not been ridden so we will also be doing flatwork and jump familiarisation as part of the day - you don't need to jump the height you normally jump, just trot or canter around the jumps and get them comfortable.

We are also offering the opportunity to be show jump graded for 2025 PCA riders up to C grade.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱?
All current financial Pony Club members are welcome.

Other riders = $60 for the day for two rounds with a qualified PCA instructor ($30 Come and try fee (paid to PCNSW) plus $30 to APC) The come and try also allows you to attend again within 28 days.

It is pre-entry only so that we can ensure everyone is in the right height group so please register below.

When horses are denied regular contact with other horses, they can experience increased stress, which may manifest as restlessness, stereotypic behaviours (such as weaving or cribbing), and even health issues like digestive or musculoskeletal problems.

Social isolation has also been linked to heightened anxiety, learning difficulties, and a greater risk of injury, as horses deprived of companionship are more likely to become despondent or withdrawn.

Humans can offer comfort and support to horses during periods of social isolation, but cannot fully substitute for the social bonds horses form with other horses.

A recent (2025) study by Janczarek and colleagues examined this issue by measuring heart rate, heart rate variability, and behavioural responses in 12 horses during brief isolation periods.

The researchers found that even with attentive human support, horses still show physiological and behavioural signs of stress when isolated from other horses. Mares, in particular, remained stressed regardless of the type of human interaction.

✨ Wow 🤩 ✨

Arcadia Pony Club Inc. two-for-one dressage and show riding clinic was a HUGE sucess!

Thank you to our wonderful dressage and show riding clinicians with John from John Thompson Dressage and Katie Kelly from KK Equestrian who delivered outstanding experiences for our members and other Pony Club Australia riders at Arcadia Pony Club Inc. under clear blue skies.

John gave not only great lessons but a template of exercises to take home to allow every rider to develop a respectful and successful way of creating harmony with our horses. His positive coaching style had everyone engaged, smiling and horses looking happy, relaxed and confident.

Katie showed us how to demonstrate the elegance in ex*****on in the show ring. The importance of knowing how to ask for that polished performance whilst maintaining the harmony and confidence in the partnership.

We are very grateful to Community Bank Galston for supporting these clinics for 2025 and allowing our riders the chance to learn from such amazing coaches! Thank you!🤩

And don’t forget - entries are open for Zone 23 Pony Club Dressage and Show riding hosted by pony club on Sunday, 15 June.
