Introducing.... CATHERINE!

Catherine is currently doing a ten-week work experience program with us in partnership with GG Flowers ().

Catherine has been visiting each Monday afternoon to help out with our dog enrichment time. She is very keen on practicing training basics and teaching new tricks to the dogs.

While she's here, Catherine also completes a mini lesson on animal care. So far we've covered off on how to approach dogs safely, all the different kinds of harnesses, health and safety in the workplace, and housekeeping. In the coming weeks, we'll also learn more about enrichment activities, health checks and preparing treats for the dogs.​​

GG’s Flowers is a social enterprise and NDIS provider in Canberra that offers meaningful employment to people living with disability. Enterprises like GG's Flowers, and work experience programs like ours are important for helping people to develop work ready skills, try out new careers, challenging stereotypes, and providing a safe place for people to demonstrate just how awesome they are.

Check Your Chip Day – Community Pop-Up

Not sure if your dog's microchip details are up to date? Come along to our Check Your Chip Day pop-up and make sure your best friend can always find their way home.

When you visit, we'll scan your dog's microchip and provide practical advice about the next steps, including:
✅ Checking whether your dog has a working microchip
✅ Advice on getting your dog microchipped if no chip is detected
✅ Information about updating your dog's details with ACT Domestic Animal Services or the NSW Pet Registry
✅ Information on whether your dog's microchip is registered on a national database
✅ Guidance on updating your contact details on your dog's microchip record

This is a pay-what-you-can event.

We're inviting you to contribute what you can with all proceeds going to animals in need. You might want to get rid of some loose change, or you can donate new or good-condition pet items that will be passed on to local animal welfare organisations.
We gratefully accept donations such as:
🐾 Unopened pet food or treats
🦴 Unopened worming treatments
🛏️ Clean pet bedding
🧸 New or gently used pet toys
🧥New or gently used leads, harnesses or coats/jackets
Please note that we cannot accept pet carriers/crates, towels, human blankets, or human bedding at this event.
Every contribution, no matter how big or small, helps support pets in need within our local community.

No bookings are required—just drop in with your dog during the event.

A few things to remember:
• Please keep your dog on a lead unless they are in a designated off-lead area.
• Microchip scanners can only detect the presence of a microchip—they cannot access or change your registration details on the spot.

Taking a few minutes to check your dog's microchip today could make all the difference if they're ever lost.

We look forward to seeing you and your four-legged friend while supporting local animal welfare organisations together!
