It is a requirement to board your cats that all cats have to be up to date with their vaccinations but this is worrying, ensure your cats are vaccinated

𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 - Panleukopenia is now actively spreading in the Shoalhaven area.

Panleukopenia is a highly contagious disease with a very low survival rate in unvaccinated cats and kittens. It is the cat strain of the deadly parvovirus seen in dogs.

It was all but eradicated in Australia up until about ten years ago before low vaccination rates led to an increase in cases. It started in Victoria, made its way up to Sydney and in the last 18 months has been making its way down the South Coast.

We have now had confirmed cases in Bomaderry, Nowra, Tomerong and recently as far south as Conjola Park.

We strongly urge all cat owners to make sure their cats are up to date with their annual F3 vaccination. Prevention is your cats best chance of surviving this deadly disease.

Think about your pets and wildlife today, insure plenty of fresh water and shade, no rugs on horses and kept dogs, cats and micro pets inside in air conditioning if possible. Put some shallow dishes throughout your garden for wildlife, its going to be a scorcher today 41° and of course, no walking your dogs on the hot ground, including the sand, take them for a walk early, no pets left in cars and no open fires anywhere, and keep an eye out for signs of heatstroke, stay cool everyone

It’s quiet busy this time of year and a full house but all cats are being so good, such a lovely mix of cats but with the heat today and tomorrow they have been outside early and will have to hang out inside in the air conditioning
