Today we laid to rest our beautiful Wally, aka “Practice Makes Perfect”.
After 20 racing starts, the majority over hurdles, Wally bowed both his tendons and began his eventing career with what looked like bananas for front legs!
Despite that, he went on to have a 10-year FEI eventing career, starting at Melbourne 3DE in 2010 and finishing at Melbourne in 2019. During that time, he completed 10 long-format events at 2* & 3* level.
In 2015, he was named the most consistent FEI cross country horse in the world by EquiRatings Eventing — a pretty impressive achievement for a horse with a junior rider lining up alongside a list of Olympians and world champions.
In his later years, Wally took a number of junior riders around the lower levels of eventing and show jumping, with varying degrees of success.
He certainly instilled the philosophy of never really knowing what to expect. Most of the time, you’d come out of a dressage test with a 61%. Other times it would be 50%, and on very special occasions, Wally would like to remind you that he was, in fact capable of a 75%.
He was a horse who taught a lot of people a lot of things, gave plenty of riders their first taste of eventing, and somehow always kept you guessing.
A true legend, and one who will be very sadly missed. 🤍

Things have been a little quieter on the socials lately, but it’s business as usual here!
With my own horses now enjoying a well-earned spell while I grow a little human, I’ve had the opportunity to spend even more time focusing on coaching and helping both riders and horses continue to progress.
Lessons and agistment are continuing as normal, with a small number of agistment places currently available. I’m also able to offer more weekend lesson spots, in addition to my usual weekday availability.
If you’re looking for agistment or would like to book a lesson, feel free to get in touch. I currently have a few places still available for this Saturday🐴🐴

4yo, 16.1hh gelding by Wild Kard out of Caligraphy (Commands/ Octagonal)

Baz is the ultimate athletic type, with good bone and natural buoyancy to his paces. I would love to see him with a competitive rider who can fulfil his potential in either showjumping or eventing.

Baz has a beautiful nature and is easy to handle. He would happily stand in the cross ties all day and is a real people horse, always cantering to the gate wanting to be caught and come in.

He has started jumping and has shown natural scope, bravery, and a fantastic canter that I believe will develop into an exceptional gallop.

Due to my pregnancy, Baz is currently out of work. He has just been shod and is ready to come back into work. He will only be sold to an experienced home. While he has a lovely temperament, he is playful and very athletic, so he needs a capable of continuing his education.

His price has been heavily reduced to reflect that he is currently out of work & is offered for a quick sale so he can begin his campaign towards some competitions in the spring.

6yo mare, sired by Grunt who had a number of horses successfully compete in the Young Event Horse classes at Melbourne international 3DE this year, her dam line also carries great thoroughbred eventing lines.

Her half brother “Tough Romanace” ran in the Group 1 Blue Diamond stakes this year and shows plenty of promise as he now heads into his second preparation, which could also see her as a valuable producer of racehorses.

Jenjan Daquari is by the renowned international sire Diarado, out of a Caretino / Alcatraz mare. He is known for passing on his exceptional type, athletic jump, and highly sought-after temperament.
He has sired a number of competitive horses including Sophia Hill’s Jenjan Royale who has recently stepped up to 2* at just 5 years old, picking up a number of wins this year at 95 & 1* level.

Only offered for sale due to reducing numbers while I am pregnant. Gertie retired sound from racing in spring 2025, given her exceptional eventing type and my circumstances I decided to breed from her, she went in foal first go without complications.

A huge congrats to Dean & Phoebe for producing such a lovely horse! He’s always been a pleasure to work with & has a bright future!
Couldn’t have asked anymore from him having raced 4 days ago, and only about 6 rides in preparation for the class!

Looking forward to the future tonight in the indoor here at Melbourne International 3 Day Event with Annabelle Archibald and Michelle Payne!

High Torque doing a super job in his dressage this afternoon 👏🏻💗

Can you believe this chap only raced on Monday?? Four days later his @ Melbourne International 3 Day Event in the Rising Stars class..

…. Funny truck bogan story, I rung his owner on Tuesday, was dropping a few weanlings off to him from NSW, and got “I’m on my way to Sophie’s, I’m not home, but you know what your doing….” Followed by “you’re not going to believe what’s happening!” 🤣🤣🤣

Then tells me the story on how this horse, was on the float on its way to Soph’s the day after it raced, to come to Melbourne three day - more on this later….. with much better photos!!!!
