Eastern Brown on a boat. 🤯

The fishermen in this boat saw a snake swimming over to them but didn't think it would be an Eastern Brown... or that he'd be climbing in for the ride home.

Safely relocated. ❤️

Finding sea legs while catching a deadly snake isn't as fun as you'd think. 🤣

These guys are venomous but not considered too dangerous.

Yesterday I was called out to a rescue at Cedar Creek.
A carpet python had been sitting in the same spot for 3 days.

I headed out as soon as I could and assessed the situation.
He was completely stuck in the rock wall because he could hardly move the back half of his body.
He had sustained a terrible injury. He had a broken spine and ribs along with some puncture wounds.

I rushed him to my vets and headed out the back with them to take the xrays and decide on treatment.

Unfortunately the break in his spine was so bad and with only minimal movement we made the decision that he couldn't be saved.
I stood with him while we sent him to sleep. 🕊

I walked out of the clinic with tears down my cheeks, an empty catch bag and another little break in my heart.

Rest in peace. 💔
