Here’s why buying with confidence matters.
I couldn’t wait to reopen this page and get back to helping people buy horses with confidence and peace of mind.
Even with years of experience, this industry can still surprise you. Recently, a pony was purchased within my own family. The seller was well known in the horse world and the pony was represented as completely safe and quiet, suitable for children. On the ground, that appeared to be true. The pony was calm, gentle, and unflappable, with even a two year old able to lead and brush it without issue.
Still, instinct matters. Despite the assurances given, I trusted my gut and arranged for the pony to be properly assessed by an experienced rider before any child was ever put on it. That decision likely prevented serious injury. Under saddle, the pony reacted dangerously, bucking severely when asked to move forward and even running the experienced rider into a fence in an attempt to dislodge him.
That experience reinforced a simple truth. No matter who you are buying from, no horse should ever be taken on trust alone.
