✨ Radiant Rodentry Update ✨

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a genuine update and also apologise for being so quiet and slow with messages for quite some time.

The past year has been a very slow season for me personally, including some health and life challenges, which meant I became quiet online, behind on replies, and bred far less than usual. I know some messages may have gone unanswered, and I’m truly sorry to anyone left waiting.

I’ve been working on getting myself back on track, creating more structure, and moving forward again. Today I completed my first pairing of any kind for this year, which feels like a big step in the right direction.

My plan is to continue with more mouse and rat pairings over the coming week as I rebuild gradually and properly.

At this stage, most future availability will likely be around 2–3 months away to allow for pregnancies, raising, weaning, and babies to reach the right age before going to new homes.

If any suitable adults or excess breeders become available sooner, I’ll post them separately once I’ve finished assessing everyone.

Today is a very hard day.

RIP Lorenzo
31-Oct-23 – 18-Feb-26
After a sudden eye complication in his senior months.

RIP Salem
24-Mar-24 – 18-Feb-26
After bravely battling a pituitary tumour.

Lorenzo was the gentlest boy.
Salem was a sweet and resilient girl.

Both were so deeply loved 💔🌈🐀

I’ve been quieter while caring for ageing rats and navigating some difficult decisions. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We currently have one rat litter that will be ready in about a month, two boys and several girls. Mice also available, and some older rats.

Please comment if you are interested.

I’m also taking time to consider what the next chapter may look like for Radiant Rodentry.

UPDATE:
The adoption fee has kindly been covered and she has short-term accommodation secured while awaiting her spay and veterinary care. We are still seeking a permanent home. If a permanent adopter comes forward, we would ask that the $155 adoption fee be reimbursed to the person who has already covered this cost.

She is a former stray and will need a patient, understanding home while she continues to decompress and build trust. She has not shown aggression in our care, but can be fearful if handled, so an adopter experienced with nervous cats or willing to go at her pace would be ideal. Videos can be provided upon request.

PS: Radiant Rodentry is currently closed for the next week and will resume adoptions as of next week, as we will be away for the weekend. We apologise for any delays in replies, we’ve had our hands very full over the past month with the Christmas period, cat rescue, and other commitments. We will do our best to reply this evening and will be reopening the waitlist today, so if you’re interested and happy to be added, please let us know as soon as possible. URGENT – CAT NEEDS HELP ASAP (CRANBOURNE)

We are urgently trying to help a stray female cat that was surrendered for her safety.

Due to our current cats and other circumstances, we are not able to take her on ourselves. We are desperately hoping that an adopter, foster, or rescue can step forward.

⚠️ If no one comes forward, she will be euthanised after 12pm tomorrow.

📍 Location: Cranbourne
💲 Adoption fee: Likely around $155, as she appears to be over 6 months old (set by the shelter)
✅ Fee includes spaying, microchipping, worming/flea treatment, and vaccinations

Hi everyone, we just wanted to sincerely apologise for the lack of replies to adoption messages recently. We know it’s not ideal and we truly appreciate everyone’s patience.

The last little while has involved some unexpected personal matters, and more recently we’ve also stepped in to help rescue and rehabilitate a small group of stray cats in our area. Several (6+) were found quite underweight, severely dehydrated, and hungry, and in need of urgent care, which understandably became a priority.

So far, we’ve only been able to safely capture one of them. She was taken in last night and appears to be pregnant. She’s being monitored closely, and we hope to have a clearer update over the coming week. We’re currently working out the best and safest way to approach the remaining cats.

We’ve contacted the local council for guidance. Unfortunately, as they’re classified as strays, they’re unable to attend or assist directly. We’ve been advised that we can continue assisting independently, so we’re doing our best to navigate this carefully and responsibly.

Because of everything happening behind the scenes, we’re going to be taking the remainder of the year to slow down, regroup, and get things properly organised again. That includes sorting messages and making sure we can respond in a timely and fair way.

If anyone local is experienced with, or interested in helping with cat rescue or rehabilitation, feel free to reach out. Community support is always appreciated.

Radiant Rodentry is officially back open 💕
After being closed for most of 2025 to focus on health and improving my program, I’m returning with the same passion and energy I began with in 2020 — but now with even higher standards, clearer systems and stronger boundaries.

Over the years I’ve learned a lot, including where my people-pleasing sometimes led me to make exceptions I shouldn’t have. Moving forward, I’m committed to consistency, transparency and doing what’s best for the animals first every time.
My updated adoption policies reflect this — clearer vetting, stricter readiness checks, ethical selling weights, and higher welfare expectations.

Radiant Rodentry has always been about improving lines, supporting owners, and raising the standard for rats and mice in Australia. Even after 5 years, I’m still learning, still growing, and still improving — as all ethical breeders do.

It’s been a little while since I last posted, but I’m so excited to finally introduce our very first rat litters of 2025! 🎉

We also have baby mice on the way (updates coming soon) 🐭💖. Things are still being organised behind the scenes, so thank you for your patience while I work through messages. For now, we kindly ask that enquiries be made directly on the posts showcasing available rats or mice. If you’ve already messaged, please feel free to bump your message as this helps.

To make the process smoother, deposits may be required once babies are officially available — this helps secure your adoption and lock in your chosen companion.

🚨 IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION 🚨

It’s come to my attention that my name and Radiant Rodentry have been wrongly associated with pet shop sales. Let me be very clear:

👉 These are NOT Radiant Rodentry rats.
👉 I have never sold to a pet shop in my life and I never will.

Radiant Rodentry has always focused on:
🐭 Rescuing and rehabilitating rats.
🐭 Carefully planned, ethically sourced breeding with the purpose of continuing and improving lines.
🐭 Ensuring rats only go to homes that are fully vetted, informed, and prepared.

Selling to pet shops is everything I stand against. Why? Because:
• Pet shops have zero vetting process, meaning animals often end up neglected or rehomed.
• Buyers are often misinformed about proper care, leading to sick or unhappy rats.
• Rats are commonly kept in inadequate enclosures before sale. Bred for quantity not quality.
• Many pet shop rats are sourced from feeder breeder racks, where they’re bred back-to-back in tiny tubs, with poor diets and no welfare standards.

If anyone has ever been told otherwise — that my rats came from a shop — you’ve been misinformed. Please always check directly with me if you’re unsure.

It’s been a quiet year with me on hiatus, but I now have some very promising litters born and I can’t wait to share updates as they grow.
