🐾 We’ve Made Vet Referrals Easier 🐾

At K9 Aquatic Therapy and Conditioning, we know teamwork gives your dog the best possible care, which is why we’ve made our Vet Referral process simpler and more accessible for both clients and veterinary clinics.

Our new online Vet Referral Form allows vets to quickly and easily provide the information needed so we can work together to support your dog’s health, rehabilitation and conditioning journey.

Why is having your vet involved so important? 🩺🐕

✔️ Ensures hydrotherapy is appropriate and safe for your dog
✔️ Allows us to understand injuries, surgeries or medical conditions
✔️ Helps create a tailored hydrotherapy program specific to your dog’s needs
✔️ Encourages communication between your vet and hydrotherapist for the best outcomes
✔️ Supports safer progression during rehabilitation and conditioning
✔️ Gives owners confidence knowing their dog’s care team is working together

Whether your dog is recovering from surgery, managing arthritis, improving mobility, building strength or simply conditioning for a healthier lifestyle, collaboration matters.

We appreciate all the vets who trust us to be part of their patients’ journeys and all the owners who allow us to care for their furry family members. 💙

Today Nikki and I took the opportunity to participate in the very first Gold Coast session with 🩺🐶

The course was incredibly informative, interactive, hands-on and, at times, a little graphic, but that’s the reality of first aid and being prepared when our furry mates need us most. ❤️

From recognising emergencies to learning practical first aid techniques, today helped build our confidence and knowledge so we can hopefully step in and help when it truly matters.

A huge thank you to Ash for delivering such a great session and creating a welcoming learning environment. 👏

We would absolutely recommend this course to any dog owner or pet professional wanting to expand their knowledge and preparedness. 🐕🐕

Meet Hunny — an adorable Pomeranian x Chihuahua with the sweetest personality and so much determination 💖

Unfortunately, Hunny has not one… but TWO luxating patellas 😔

Luxating patellas occur when the kneecaps slip out of place, which can cause discomfort, limping, instability, muscle loss, and difficulty moving comfortably. That’s where hydrotherapy has become such an important part of Hunny’s journey 🫶

With the support of the underwater treadmill, Hunny is able to:
💧 Build muscle strength around her knees
💧 Improve stability and coordination
💧 Exercise with reduced impact on her joints
💧 Increase confidence in her movement
💧 Stay active safely and comfortably

Because water provides buoyancy and resistance at the same time, dogs like Hunny can strengthen their muscles without placing excessive pressure on sore or unstable joints. And despite her challenges, Hunny continues to show up with the biggest heart and the cutest little attitude 🐶✨

We are so proud of the progress you’re making, sweet girl 💕

🐾 Meet Winston — an 11-year-old Dalmatian with a heart as big as his spots 🤍🖤

Just six months ago, Winston was struggling significantly with his mobility and could barely walk. Everyday movements had become difficult, and his family were understandably worried about his quality of life.

Fast forward to today… after just 5 hydrotherapy sessions, Winston is showing a whole new spark ✨

He’s moving more freely, building strength and confidence, and most importantly — enjoying life again 🐶💙

Hydrotherapy provides a low-impact form of exercise that supports aging joints, builds muscle strength, improves mobility, and helps dogs stay active without placing excessive strain on their bodies.

Seeing dogs like Winston regain their confidence and comfort is exactly why we do what we do 🫶

We’re so proud of you, Winston! Keep shining superstar 🌟

Have you ever noticed how dogs can tire more quickly on an underwater treadmill than they do on land — even when walking slower? 👀

That’s because WATER creates resistance in every single step 💧

On land, dogs mainly work against gravity and their own body weight. In water, the muscles must push through constant resistance while the buoyancy helps reduce impact on the joints — creating a workout that is both challenging AND supportive at the same time 🫶

🐕 WALKING ON LAND
✔️ Natural everyday movement
✔️ Great for general exercise and conditioning
✔️ Helps maintain bone strength
✔️ Easy to access and familiar

But it also comes with:
▫️ Higher joint impact
▫️ More concussion through hips, knees, elbows & spine
▫️ Increased strain for dogs recovering from surgery or injury
▫️ Harder movement for arthritic or neurological dogs

💦 WALKING IN WATER
✔️ Low-impact exercise
✔️ Water buoyancy reduces joint stress
✔️ Increased muscle engagement through resistance
✔️ Controlled movement and gait training
✔️ Excellent for rehabilitation, conditioning & weight loss
✔️ Supports dogs with arthritis, neurological conditions & post-op recovery

Because water creates approximately 12–15x more resistance than air, muscles work significantly harder with every step 🌊

Resistance changes depending on:
🔹 Water depth
🔹 Walking speed
🔹 Limb movement
🔹 Dog size & coat type

This means:
🐾 Just a few minutes in the underwater treadmill can provide the muscle engagement of a much longer walk on land.

At the same time, water buoyancy can reduce weight-bearing by:
💧 Up to ~60% at hip height
💧 Up to ~85% at shoulder height

So dogs can safely strengthen muscles while placing far less stress on painful or recovering joints 💙

Hydrotherapy is so much more than “walking in water” — it’s a carefully controlled rehabilitation and conditioning tool designed to improve strength, mobility, endurance, confidence, and overall quality of life 🐾

🐾 Hank’s Journey — From Fear and Pain to Confidence and Strength

Meet Hank, a beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer with one incredible story 💙

Hank was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition known as Immune Mediated Polyarthritis (IMPA), a condition that can cause significant pain, inflammation, stiffness and mobility challenges.

On top of managing his condition, Hank also struggled with reactivity around people, new environments and unfamiliar experiences. Understandably, trying hydrotherapy for the very first time was a huge step for him and his family.

But Hank has absolutely blown us away 🌟

In just 6 hydrotherapy sessions, Hank is becoming a completely different dog.

✔️ More confident
✔️ More comfortable in his body
✔️ Building strength and mobility
✔️ Learning to trust new experiences
✔️ Showing his happy, playful personality again 🐶

At K9 Aquatic Therapy and Conditioning, we always work at the dog’s pace. Building trust is just as important as building strength and Hank is proof of what patience, consistency, and support can achieve 💙

We are so incredibly proud of you, Hank. Watching your confidence grow each session has been something truly special 🫶
