Bright Bessy Dog Training

Bright Bessy Dog Training BBDT uses force free training and behaviour modification- showing your dog how to make good decisions I have developed that method. It is simple and logical.

I have seen the need for the development of an uncomplicated, no-frills method of dog training which clients can feel comfortable with and understand. It has no gimmicks and is highly effective. My method needs no equipment other than a flat collar and lead and does not involve the use of force or fear in any way, shape or form. Since the inception of Bright Bessy Dog Training, I have trained thou

sands of dogs, many of which had major behavioural problems, needed to develop some manners, had an owner that needed a helper or were young pups needing a great start in life. I don’t make unrealistic promises. I maintain a sense of humour and we am passionate about what I do.

The COMMUNITY SUPPORT DOG team has been nominated as Volunteer Team of the Year in the 2026 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards.
Even if nothing comes of it,just the fact that we have been recognised is such an honour.
I'm so proud of each and every dog and owner in the team.They are the epitome of selflessness .

MAGGIES owners 'got the run around' when she was a pup,so as a result she's missed out on critical socialisation.
She has learnt to use her weight and her bark to try and intimidate- but she is actually a big softy!
Teaching ground rules and then obedience and lead work are our goals .
Aversive ( uncomfortable) training techniques are often used on big dogs.NOT ON MY WATCH !!

Her foster home had other dogs to which she would have looked to for mentoring
Since being adopted ,she no longer has them,so is showing some behaviours based on fear and lack of confidence She also had an unpleasant encounter with two dogs to add to the mix.
She did so well during our session ....I know that she's going to be just fine!

TURBO
TURBO is a big boy for a Kelpie!
Previously he was crouching down and fixating on other dogs -' using the eye '.This made him totally unresponsive and impossible to walk .
Now ,after some training and hard work from his owners,TURBO has learned the skill of impulse control and is able to walk past other dogs in a relatively relaxed manner.

When we meet another human we might shake their hand and have an introductory conversation.
In a dog's world ,they can find out much that they need to know about another dog by sniffing its butt.
Don't pull your dog away if it does this.It's an important part of their greeting ritual.........
