The first foals by Armidale's Group-winning juvenile Bodyguard are arriving this spring, with his debut crop already making a strong impression.

“Across the foals we’ve seen so far, there’s plenty of strength and substance, good bone and great shape about them. They’re athletic foals with plenty of presence, but what has impressed us most is the consistency across the crop." — David Whishaw

A clear pattern is emerging in Bodyguard’s first crop, with the power and precocity that defined him as a 2YO already coming through in his foals.

Strong, forward and full of presence, they’re looking every bit the type you’d expect from Bodyguard.

It was a big night for Armidale at the Tasmanian Racing Awards on Friday 🥂

Needs Further was once again crowned Leading Sire, claiming the title for the second consecutive season and third time overall.

Armidale-bred and sold Aristopolos was also recognised as Tasmanian Two-Year-Old of the Year, following an unbeaten juvenile season that included two Listed victories.

And in a timely addition to the family, his dam Flying Krupt welcomed a beautiful filly by Bodyguard at Armidale this week.

A proud result for Armidale, with plenty to celebrate both on the track and at home.

Before there was a pattern, there was the blueprint 📝

A son of Champion Sire I Am Invincible, Bodyguard also comes from one of the most precocious, speed-oriented families in the Australasian studbook. His dam Tumooh is by Fastnet Rock and out of Golden Slipper heroine Mossfun, herself the dam of Group winner Dajraan.

The pattern is beginning to show.

A $1.6 million yearling and explosive Group-winning 2YO, Bodyguard had the looks, speed and precocity from the outset. Now, those same qualities are emerging in his first crop of foals.
