Here's a tiny video of Adelaide and Applejack that sums up just how to make riding a horse "easy": practice enough that you can use your back, two separate reins and one foot in pretty good sequence, without even thinking about it. On the days that you nail this, your pony will miraculously change his mind about the detour he was thinking of taking, and decide to go where you wanted instead. 😌

Ivy the bridle less school pony. As our most beautiful school pony Ivy (β€œPshangri La W” - Pshalomar x Ezra W) matures, she is finding her place in the teaching world. Here is Ivy showing two riders how to communicate with your horse without a bridle. As Stella so wisely observed "It's easy, you just have to concentrate more." 🀣

Today Junction Farm agisters and Junction Farm Equestrian Academy students took a trip to the beach. We had 18 riders in all, and it was a great day out. The horses travelled well, stood kindly to be saddled and gave everyone a great ride on the beach. What lovely ponies! Huge thanks to Mark Richards for driving the truck - fully laden with 12 horses on board! My photos are of the steady group. The flyers were on the other beach. 😊

Junction Farm Equestrian Park "One" Day Event
What a lot of happy riders! On 5th, 6th and 7th December, Junction Farm hosted a competition for Academy Students and agisters. With 26 riders across 4 classes, the competition was serious. I was very pleased with the format, straight from the imagination of yours truly, implemented with the amazing co-operation of Leanne, our older riding school students and lots of parents. Each rider rode all three phases in a row, enabling busy people to have a go on a day that suited them, and ensuring that everyone had a turn riding their favourite horse.
Everyone did an amazing job.
The results of the competition were:

Class A - Walk/Trot and 20cm Jumps
1st Kelly Breen and Junction Farm's Elkie
2nd Elena Pedder and Junction Farm's Moonlight
3rd Candice Williams and Amber
4th Ivy Brooks and Junction Farm's Apples
5th Sita Connelly and Junction Farm's Duchess

Class B: Lead Rein Walk/Trot and 20cm Jumps
1st Violet Sartorio and Junction Farm's DJ
2nd Heidi Chen and Junction Farm's Piccolo
3rd Elena Atkinson and Drake
4th Kassidy Selby and Junction Farm's DJ
5th Charlotte Porte and Junction Farm's Pumpkin

Class C: Prep 1 and 40cm jumps
1st Eve Williams and Junction Farm's Apples
2nd Andrea Trezise and Glo
3rd David Coe and Clyde
4th Eliza Minster and Junction Farm's Moonlight
5th Mia Wilson and Junction Farm's Ivy

Class D: Prelim 1.1 and 40 to 60cm jumps
1st Leanne Barker and Leo
2nd Hazel Martin and Junction Farm's Elkie
3rd Stella Newman and Junction Farm's Apples
Equal 4th Shiloh Bass and Milo
Equal 4th Grace Avery and Leo

Congratulations to everyone and thank you for supporting our event.

TRAIL RIDE AT JUNCTION FARM
Hi Everyone. I am leading a 1.5 hour trail ride on Junction Farm Sunday 21st December, for both riding school horses and members of the public mounted on their own horses. Ride time will be 11.30am - 1.00pm. Please use DM or text 0418161820 to let me know you are coming.

All welcome within these parameters please:

1. Waivers and helmets are compulsory.
2. $25 trail hire fee per person for people with their own horse, $100 for students on our horses*. (As always, because my horses trust me to do this, I only allow regular students or people I know to borrow a school horse for an off-lead trail ride).
3. The ride will be quiet but, competence and control are prerequisites. Alternatively, please bring a lead horse or a fit person to walk with you on a lead rein.
4. Please don't bring a precious, untried or crazy baby horse or a friend who has told you they can ride but you haven't actually seen them on a horse. 😜 Both of these types are welcome to come along for a private event on another day.
5. Please don't bring a dog.
