’Twas the night before Christmas at Camden’s Horse Park,
All quiet and peaceful, no hoofbeats in the dark.
The rugs hung with care on the yards in a row,
While ponies dreamed sweetly in the soft moonlight glow.
When up on the rooftop there arose such a clatter—
St. Nicholas landed with reindeer and chatter!
Dressed jolly in red, with a sack full of cheer,
He leaped from his sleigh and called loud for all to hear:
“Remove all the baling twine—take it away clean!
Use only the washbays for horse washing, I mean!
Clean out your yards after every use, please,
Leave them tidy and raked, if you’d be so at ease.
Report any dog barks to Council right away,
And close every gate behind you—night or day!"
He filled buckets with hay, carrots shiny and bright,
Winked with a twinkle, then sprang to take flight.
As he drove out of sight with his reindeer so light,
He exclaimed,
“Merry Christmas to all members and families—goodnight!”
