Dog registrations are coming up fast so now is the time to update your details if needed or start saving a little bit each week to make sure that it doesn't surprise you come July!

Our enforcement officers work hard to return pets to their owners as quickly as they can. This lovely little girl was found wandering by a school this week, close to a busy road, and our officer enticed her over with some well placed treats to get her to safety.

Once she was caught, because her microchip details were up to date, our officer managed to return her directly to her owner without the need to go to the pound!

We know that sometimes dogs perfect the art of escapism, so having your dog's microchip details up to date and the dog or cat registered with Cairns Regional Council means that they can come home as soon as possible and you can be reunited with your best friend faster.

Dog registration is coming up soon so its a great time to jump online now and update your details if needs be!

Are you my owner?? 😺🐾

This gorgeous girl is looking for her owners! This big, beautiful, calm and smoochy girl has the prettiest colouring and although is a bit shy at first, warms up very fast.

Although she is microchipped as 'Millie', we cant get through to either number on record so we're trying all avenues! She was brought to us on the 13th April (Monday) from Hawkins Street in Gordonvale and we would love to get her back to her owners. She is clearly a very loved and sweet pet, please help us find her owners!

Her impound number is 1312038. This is why its so important to register your pet with Council as well as microchip. Microchip details often become out of date but registration is almost always current.

If this is your pet, please get in touch with the Cairns Regional Council Customer Service Team on 1300 69 22 47 as soon as possible so we can arrange to get her home.

Please note, Council does not adopt pets directly from the Animal Care and Education Centre.

No dogs this week I'm afraid. Only lion cubs....

These two are part of a 4 strong litter who have ended up with us out of no fault of their own. These sweet boys and girls will be heading to a rescue group in Cairns soon so if you are interested in them, keep your eyes on our adoption partner pages!

We hope everyone has a happy and safe Easter break.

The Animal Care and Education Centre in Woree will be closed on Friday 3rd.

Impounded pets and lost pets can be collected on Saturday 4th, Sunday 5th and Monday 6th from midday to 12.30pm. We will be back to our regular hours from Tuesday 7th.

Have a lovely long weekend and remember, as much as you might like that Easter chocolate, your pets don't! 😅🐾

Are you missing your wallaby? This lovely guy was dropped into the centre this morning and is looking for his people!

He comes with a bit of an extra bounce, along with an affinity for stealing the Easter chocolate so we would like him to go home before all our treats disappear!

His impound number is 01042026 and if he is yours, please get in contact soon and we can organise collection. 😁🦘

Are you my owner??

Is this old man your best mate?? This old fella is a bit of a character who loves his food and snores really loudly. He is a Staffy cross black and white entire male. He is a lovely old man who is really missing his humans. He was found on Anderson Road Woree on the 26/8/2025. His impound number is 1310721.

If this is your pet, please get in touch with the Cairns Regional Council Customer Service Team on 1300 69 22 47 as soon as possible so we can arrange to get him home.

Please note, Council does not adopt pets directly from the Animal Care and Education Centre. If this boy isn't collected by his owner, he will be placed with a local rehoming organisation.
