We’ve had several inquiries about group cattle herding classes so we’ve decided to run a class in October! This class is a good opportunity for current clients to give cattle herding a try with some educated young weaners.

Please note there is a reasonable risk of injury to yourself and/or your dogs while working cattle. Due to safety risks with cattle, we have a minimum age requirement of 8 months old for dogs to attend our cattle training. To attend our cattle training, you MUST have attended our sheep herding classes or private sessions beforehand for us to assess your dog/s suitability for cattle training

Very excited for the first breeding for Akheron Kelpies! We plan on pairing our main girl Chimera with our young up and coming boy Odysseus later this year. I expect the pups will be cracking workers!

🎆 We’re back again this year at the Pine Rivers Show! 🎆

Come along on Sunday 3rd of August to see some of our working Kelpies in action! We’ll be around from 9am to 3pm with three main shows during the day.

💥Main show times:
🐑 10am - Sheep demo

🐑 1:30pm - Sheep demo

💥All our services can now be booked for August! 💥

We will also be at the Pine Rivers Show again in August! On Sunday 3rd we’ll be doing sheep and cattle demonstrations with our team of working Kelpies.

🚨And please note there is a change to weekday private herding session times in August. New session times on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays are 7am, 8am, 9:30am and 10:30am.

All other class and session times and weekend private sessions will remain the same.

We are excited to announce that our working stock dog board and trains are currently in development! Our board and trains will be suited for starting working pups through to advancing older dog’s stock work skills while staying on our property.

𝐃𝐨𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
We offer social assessments with our dogs to ensure your puppy or dog has a safe, positive experience with other well-adjusted, confident dogs with appropriate social skills.

These assessments are suitable for:

✔️Determining suitability for our dog socials
✔️Puppies of any age (that has had least two puppy vaccinations ) to learn how to “speak dog” appropriately
✔️Dogs that need assistance with learning appropriate dog communication skills
✔️Owners that are unsure of how their dog will behave around new dogs
✔️Rescue dogs with limited or unknown history
✔️Dogs that have had poor experiences in the past and need assistance to build on more positive interactions and confidence around other dogs

𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬
We can teach your dog to sit on and walk with a quad bike or correct problem behaviours such as biting tyres, chasing the bike.

𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐝𝐨𝐠 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
We can assist with educating your livestock (sheep, goats and cattle) for easier, safer and less stressful handling including creating trainer mobs. We can also do small mustering jobs with my team of dogs and assist with training and behaviour issues for your stock dog.

💥 All our services can now be booked for March including an another highly requested new service! 💥

We put out an expressions of interest for a stock dog handler workshop back in August 2024 and we’ve finally organised it! Our first Stock Dog Handler Workshop is running on Saturday March 22nd. This is a good opportunity for those that would like to improve their handling skills for working their own dogs on livestock or for complete beginners to working a stock dog. This 4-hour workshop is aimed at building handler skills and you would not bring your own dog. It is suited to pet dog owners through to handlers with or wishing to use working dogs on livestock. No prior knowledge or skills are required.

What will you learn?
✔️Basic principles to better understand how we as handlers fit in the picture
✔️How to read livestock and dog behaviour and consider their perspective when working
✔️Training equipment
✔️Demonstrations of our dogs to expand on theory
✔️Practical activities - you will work some of our working dogs to put theory into practice

We also plan to offer a follow up workshops where you can then put these skills into practice with your own dog, build on these basic skills for more advanced work and receive tailored advice for you and your dog. We then also plan to offer a cattle workshop down the track.
