We have a range of birds currently available at Nicks Pet Needs! We’ve got a rainbow of budgies and Peachfaces! Some striking red canary’s, some double bar finches and some zebra finches! We also have an absolute stunning breeding pair of Indian ringnecks! All of these birds are available in store at the moment so if you see anything that suits your fancy come visit today! All of these birds are aviary.

We also have some stunning Bettas, fancy Goldfish, shiny Angels, even more Barbs! And of course a top up of all our favourites, including Neon tetras, Harlequin Rasboras, Oscar’s and Assorted Peacocks!! We also have some long awaited Otocinclus catfish!

A new range of small animal food has arrived at Nicks Pet Needs this week!
We’ve got new rodent food specially formulated for rats and mice, blending high-quality wheat, barley, oats and legumes and essential animal proteins like meat meal, fish meal and blood meal all with added vitamins and minerals to help support strength, immunity and vitality!
We also have 2 new options for Guinea pig food! The Alfalfa cubes being made from 100% Australian grown lucerne and the Teff cubes being made from 100% Australian grown Teff grass and alfalfa!

So if you’re looking for some more variety to add to your littlest family members, look no further!

We have STICK INSECTS!! It has been quite a while since these interesting creatures have made an appearance in store but nonetheless they are back! These guys make amazing pets especially for children interested in learning different life cycles of animals and even adults who adore phasmids or any type of invertebrates! For educational purposes these guys also make incredible classroom pets!

Their care is quite simple, stick insects diet consists of fresh leaves of either Eucalyptus trees (Gum) and Lilly Pilly bushes. Making sure the leaves don’t dry out by places them in a jar of water (covering the water while they’re small is recommended as the can accidentally drown). Also spraying the leaves in the enclosure once or twice a day with a distilled water or primed water is recommended so they can drink the droplets off the leaves!

Their lifespan is around 18-24 months! And they don’t mind occasional gentle handling, making them great low maintenance pets!

We have gotten in a new shipment of hardscape supplies! 🪨 In this delivery we’ve gotten some really nice gems, including some large statement rock pieces of various types, and some really nice driftwood pieces. 🪾With an iPad for scale (no bananas were available unfortunately), you can see just how large these pieces are! Perfect for a large tank, especially african cichlid or turtle tanks where plants aren’t as much of an option.

We do also have the usual smaller rocks of various kinds, there are some very nice shapes in the mix! Feel free to come in store and see if we have what you are looking for. 😁

We have this absolute adorable Hand-Raised cockatiel in store as of today! This sweet baby is looking for her forever home. One where she’ll possibly have other friends of the same species to keep her company when her humans are away at work and one where she gets all the attention she can soak up! She adores scritches, enjoys sitting with you as you go about your day and just wants to be out of the cage with her favourite human. Overall she’s just the sweetest baby ever once she gets to know you!

Cockatiels will live roughly 15-20 years in captivity with the right diet and overall care, so she is a big commitment but very worth it!

If you’re interested pop down today and meet this precious baby! Our very knowledgeable staff is happy to answer all your questions in person or through messages, especially the staff member who hand-raised her!

“She” is being sold as unsexed as we cannot 100% guarantee the gender without DNA sexing! 🦜🩷

As we approach the middle of winter, it’s time to start thinking about grooming! 🪮A lot of dog breeds, especially thick and double coated ones, will start to drop their extra fur in preparation for the warmer seasons! And as we all know, winter finishes far before the official end in Brisbane 😆.

Thankfully we have a variety of brushes in stock! This includes a wet brush to make bath time easier, shedding combs to limit the fur travelling around your home, as well as a variety of maintenance brushes, to avoid the tangles! 🐶 Feel free to come take a look at what we have available! We have gotten in some very large tropical fish today! 🐟 3x 15-20cm Silver Sharks, as well as one Driftwood Catfish of about the same size. These guys need at least a 4ft tank without a lot of little fish, as both species can be opportunistic hunters! Feel free to come check them out ☺️.
