Hi-Tek Aquariums has been catering to hobbyists’ needs on the Northern Beaches and its surroundings for more than 20 years. We are approachable, knowledgeable and dedicated to helping you achieve your visions. With over 50 years of combined experience anything is possible. We have over 120 tanks containing freshwater fish and invertebrates, marine fish and invertebrates, coral and aquatic plants.

Upstairs you can find everything you need to keep your reptiles happy and healthy! Products include: enclosures, substrate, live & frozen food, lighting, health supplements and much more! Venture upstairs and say hi to our turtles, snakes and lizards that we have available for adoption (subject to breeding season). The brands and products we carry have been refined over the years to give you the best selection for quality, ease of application and affordability. Our success is relative to your success. When it comes to technical and creative concepts, we enjoy a challenge. However we never lose sight of the practical issues that make the keeping of a species easy and enjoyable. We want it to look amazing but be functional. From smart desktop aquariums to colossal coral reef marine systems, we have what you need. Did you know? 🤔 👇

Honey Dwarf Gouramis (Trichogaster chuna) are native to India and Bangladesh, and are loved for their warm golden-orange “sunset” colouration and delicate, peaceful appearance.

In aquariums, they’re calm, shy, and peaceful fish, often swimming slowly amongst plants and using their feeler-like fins to explore their surroundings.

🐠 pH: 6.0-7.5
🐠 Size: Up to 5-6cm

Did you know? 🤔 👇

Black Axolotls are native to Lake Xochimilco in Mexico and are known for their dark, almost velvety black colouration and feathery external gills, giving them a unique, “smiling” appearance.

In aquariums, they’re calm, solitary, and slow-moving, often resting at the bottom and snapping up food when it comes close.

🐠 pH: 6.5-7.5
🐠 Size: Up to 23-30cm
🐠 Diet: Balanced carnivore diet

Did you know? 🤔 👇

Gold Rams are a colour variant of the German Blue Ram, native to the Orinoco River Basin in Venezuela and Colombia, and are known for their bright golden-yellow body with iridescent blue highlights and red eyes.

They are peaceful but slightly territorial, often forming pairs and displaying interesting behaviours, especially during breeding.

African Butterflyfish (Pantodon buchholzi) are native to West and Central Africa, and are known for their large, wing-like pectoral fins and flat body, resembling a butterfly when viewed from above.

In aquariums, they’re surface-dwelling and ambush predators, staying still at the top and quickly snapping at prey—plus, they’re excellent jumpers!
