We were so honoured to be invited to speak at a seminar in Bowen that was hosted by Nutrien.

The morning showcased:
- Bull information, detailing what to look for when purchasing 🐂
- Grass nutrition and testing - Pestivirus disease in cattle- Drenching/faecal egg counts on property
- Poisons that may improve your property significantly that’s not well known on the market.
We are hoping to help run another event in Proserpine very soon to help our primary producers 🐄

Pip's trip to the vet's 🪥?

Pip’s mum regularly checks her teeth and on her last check she noticed some tooth missing 🦷! After a thorough examination by our Vet Liaison and veterinarian we discoved she had fractured her carnassial which is one of the biggest teeth! The carnassial has 3 roots and requires your animal to be fully anaesthetized when having a dental procedure, it then gets stitched up so no food can get stuck in the hole that it left. Pip recovered very well and required soft wet food for 5 days initially, but she is now back to eating her biscuits again!

Our pets are so strong and avoid letting us know when they are in pain, so regular checks are a must, especially when it is FREE with our nurses at GWVS! 🐶🦷!

Dixie, Digby, Doby, Lola and Bandit are 6-week-old dachshunds who have been coming into visit us for regular weigh ins 🐶! Puppys should be wormed every 2 weeks from 2 weeks old until 12 weeks of age, with dosages based on their weight 🐛 then monthly until 6 months of age then finally every 3 months ongoing. To ensure that the puppies get the right amount of wormer, their owners have been bringing them in for regular weight checks. Last week, our Proserpine team got to spend some time showing these cute pups all the attention they deserve 😍!

If you have any questions regarding correct worming procedures or need to weigh your pet to ensure you get the right product or monitor their weight, feel free to pop by at any time and borrow our scales! Tip of the week 💡

Have you heard of a floating rib?

Floating ribs in a dog are shorter than other ribs and are connected to the dog and cat's spinal cord. Simply, the last pair of ribs acts as a support for the spine and protects the dog’s body – therefore, floating ribs are not a deformity, but a perfectly normal part of our dogs’ bodies!

Floating ribs provide protection to organs located in the lower part of the thoracic cavity and upper abdomen, notably the kidneys.

Fireworks are lighting up the sky at Proserpine Sugar Mill on Saturday 26th 9pm on behalf of the Mayor's charity ball, and it's sure to be a blast! But while we enjoy the show, it’s important to remember that loud noises can be scary for our furry friends.
