… natural wellbeing & botanical wellness Our work is shaped by real life.

Hi, I’m Lyjelle, certified Animal Naturopath & Reiki practitioner, and founder of Paws Unleashed Pet Services. We have a whole-of-animal, whole-of-life approach to wellbeing. Based in the Far North Queensland, I support companion animals, and the humans who love them, through natural products, gentle education, and practical support that works with the body, the environment, and the nervous system. Here on our small multi-animal property, every product, protocol and approach is tried and tested in real life, on us and the animals we love most. What started as a search for gentle, lasting answers became a mission to understand the whole story: humidity, insects, wet seasons, recovery needs, and the cumulative stress that modern animals carry. Alongside Paws Unleashed sits Whispers & Whiskers | The Unleashed Diaries. This is my lived, behind the scenes thread that weaves through animals, food, movement, and wraps it up in a fun and stress free way. We stock eco-friendly, sustainable products for both Humans + Pets, which are either grown in our garden, or small batch, Australian made. Slow, ethical, grounded care, rooted in respect.

Naturally rich in vitamins A, C and E, calcium, potassium, iron, plant protein and a wide range of antioxidant compounds. Moringa can be a simple way to add extra nutritional diversity to the diet using a whole food rather than a synthetic supplement.

Research suggests moringa helps to support healthy skin and coat, normal immune function, and joint health. Its antioxidant and naturally occurring anti-inflammatory compounds also help the body manage oxidative stress, the normal cellular damage that occurs with ageing, illness and everyday environmental exposures.

Many humans happily book a mani-pedi every few weeks. But, did you know your dog’s nail length affects their long term health?

Overgrown nails can change posture and place extra strain on joints, tendons, and the spine. Keeping their nails at a healthy length supports comfort, mobility, and overall wellbeing.

Regular nail care isn’t just grooming, it’s an important part of whole-of-dog health…. it can be scary trying to work out how short you need to trim. Many groomers and veterinarians can help if you, or your dog are too nervous.

Case Study: Reactive Rescue Dog

I have been working with a client and their rescue dog , deeply loving with his person, intelligent and eager to learn, but highly reactive and fearful around strangers after a history of abuse.

Dogs like this are often misunderstood.

What people see:
Growling.
Snarling.
Lunging.
“Aggression.”

What’s often underneath:
Hypervigilance.
Fear.
Nervous system overload.
A dog expecting danger before it arrives.

In this case, the dog actively wanted connection with people, but didn’t yet have the trust or emotional safety to feel okay interacting with them.

From a Bach Flower perspective, we explored support for:
• fear of people and situations
• trauma imprinting and emotional shock
• anticipatory anxiety and hypervigilance
• emotional guarding and mistrust

Alongside nervous system support, we also discussed behaviour approaches that protect trust rather than force interaction:
• allowing choice and distance
• avoiding forced pats or direct approaches
• using calm parallel presence instead of pressure
• understanding that fear-based behaviour is not “dominance”

The client had been using C*D oil, and while it appeared to help take the edge off physiologically, it hadn’t rebuilt trust or changed the dog’s emotional associations with people.

That’s an important distinction!!

C*D may help some dogs settle enough to cope, but it usually isn’t the whole answer for trauma-based behaviour. Long-term change often comes through repeated safe experiences, predictability, agency, nervous system decompression, and slowly rebuilding emotional safety over time.

One of the biggest signs of hope? This dog had already formed a strong bond with his guardian and was learning quickly within safe relationships.

Healing for dogs like this is rarely about “fixing bad behaviour.”
It’s about helping the nervous system learn that safety, predictability, and kindness can exist again.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer a rescue dog is time, agency, and the space to feel safe before asking them to trust the world.

Here on the Cassowary Coast, we see it all the time:
• dogs that can’t settle
• constant licking or chewing
• pacing, barking, reactivity
• dogs that always seem slightly “on edge”

All signs their nervous system isn’t getting a chance to settle.

Paws Unleashed has a range of gentle flower essence blends available at Health, Healing and Harmony, Innisfail. Our blends are made through a whole-of-dog lens … supporting emotional balance, recovery, transition, and nervous system regulation.

Individual flower essence consultations also available for dogs needing more personalised support.
