Every horse that comes through our hospital is someone’s much-loved companion, trusted teammate, or once-in-a-lifetime horse — and we never take that responsibility lightly. ā¤ļø

What means the most to our team is knowing owners feel supported not just through treatment, but through every update, every conversation, and every small moment of care along the way.

Because exceptional equine care goes beyond procedures and facilities. It’s about trust, compassion, communication, and making both horse and owner feel genuinely cared for from the moment they arrive.

Thank you to all our clients for the trust you place in our team each and every day.

Induction of general anaesthesia in the horse presents a critical point in the flow of anaesthesia. At Willinga Park Vet Hospital, our team works collaboratively to provide the highest standard of care to our horses during this high risk moment with careful planning to ensure the safety and comfort of our patient. Ultimately, ensuring a smooth transition from standing to the surgery table.

This fortnight we had the pleasure of hosting Claire, from UQ, for her final year equine placement.

At Willinga Park Vet Hospital, we value providing students with the opportunity to develop day one skills and advance their knowledge. Claire is pictured here performing abdominal ultrasonography as part of our colic tutorial. Claire also participated in our weekly teaching rounds presenting on a case she saw during her time at the hospital.

Thank you Claire for spending time with us and learning from us- we look forward to welcoming you to the profession.

The quality of a surgical outcome is shaped long before the first instrument is picked up. At Willinga Park Vet Hospital, it is shaped by the team behind each horse, experienced & recognised specialists in the field, nurses and support staff who bring care, precision and consistency to every stage.

From assessment through to recovery, every step matters. For owners, that is where trust begins. And it is where clinical excellence becomes something you can feel confident in.

When people think about surgery, they often picture the operation itself. In reality, trust is built in everything around it: preparation, anaesthesia planning, sterile systems, recovery spaces and the team making decisions at every stage. That is what specialist hospital care looks like. It is also why the environment around the procedure matters just as much as the procedure itself.

At Willinga Park Vet Hospital, specialist equine care extends far beyond the procedure itself.

If your horse is ā€œfineā€ā€¦ but not quite themselves — trust that instinct.

In summer, the early stage rarely looks dramatic, and the first clear sign can be gut-related.

If you’ve noticed any of these lately:
• quieter than usual
• not finishing feed / drinking less
• their digestive output seems reduced

Our Willinga Park Vet Hospital team has shared what to watch, what’s urgent, and the simple prevention basics that make the biggest difference.
