🚗 HEADING OFF ON A ROAD TRIP WITH YOUR PET?

Before you hit the road, make sure your four-legged passenger is ready!

🐾 Secure them safely in the vehicle.
💧 Pack fresh water and a bowl.
🏷️ Check their ID and microchip details.
🚶 Plan regular stops on longer journeys.
🌡️ Never leave them unattended in a hot car.

Whether you’re heading to the beach or exploring Gippsland, a little preparation goes a long way.❤️

🐾 A CHANGE IN APPETITE IS WORTH PAYING ATTENTION TO!

Our pets can’t tell us when they’re feeling unwell, so changes in their usual eating habits can be an important clue that something isn’t quite right.

While some pets may occasionally skip a meal, a sudden loss of appetite shouldn’t be ignored — especially if it’s unusual for your pet or accompanied by other symptoms.

💡 A few things to remember:
🐶 Don’t force your pet to eat if they’re refusing food.
🐱 Keep an eye on their drinking, energy levels and toileting habits.
🐰 Rabbits that stop eating need urgent veterinary attention, as their condition can deteriorate quickly.

If your pet isn’t eating as usual, trust your instincts and give us a call. We’re always happy to help you work out the next best step!

📞 Contact Eastwood Vets if you’re concerned about your pet’s appetite.

🐈 MYTH OR FACT?

“Cats always land on their feet!”

❌ MYTH!

Cats have an impressive ability to twist their bodies while falling, but they can still suffer serious injuries from falls.

Even cats that seem perfectly fine after a fall can have hidden injuries.

Keep windows and balconies secure, and contact a vet if your cat has had a significant fall.

Cats might have nine lives in cartoons, but we’d rather they only need the one! ❤️

🐴 DID YOU KNOW WE HAVE A PORTABLE CRUSH? 🐴

Not every horse likes to stand still for their vet visit! That’s where our portable crush comes in handy. 🙌

It helps us safely and comfortably handle horses for a range of procedures, including:

🦷 Equine dentals
🐴 Mare scans
🩺 Veterinary examinations and treatments
💉 And many other procedures where a little extra support is helpful!

Our portable crush is a handy addition to our equine services, helping us make veterinary visits safer and easier for both horses and our team. 💚

🐶👂 Not all ear infections are easy to spot!

Flappy ears, head shaking, scratching or a smelly ear can all be signs of an ear infection. But did you know your dog’s ears can look perfectly clean on the outside and still have an infection deeper inside?

🐾 Watch for:

* Head shaking or ear flapping
* Scratching at the ears
* Unusual smells or discharge
* Redness or discomfort

🤿Dogs who love to swim may also be more prone to ear problems.

This photo shows a more severe example, but ear infections can be present even when the outside looks completely normal!

If you notice any changes, book an ear check with our team. ❤️

What you see on the outside doesn’t always tell the whole story! 🐶

📞 Contact Eastwood Vets if you’re concerned about your dog’s ears.
