While we know dogs can’t have chocolate, there are plenty of lovely treats they can have.

What did your dogs get for Easter this morning?

Easter egg hunts are super fun but make sure there’s no spare eggs laying around for our fur babies to find 🥰🐶

For everyone else, please leave your dogs in the car or with a trusted friend when you go up to the desk to pay so we can avoid having dogs crowded at the desk 🐶

📣Reminder📣
Please remember to leave your dogs in the car with the windows down or with a friend when coming to the desk to pay. We dont want any dogs coming up to the desk. This is for safety reasons and to prevent unfamiliar dogs getting too close to each other. This also frees up your hands so signing in and making payment is quick and easy. We appreciate your cooperation 💓

🥩Training Treats🍗

Suitable training treats to bring to classes must be very high value. A high value reinforcement can help your dog work through the distracting environment that they experience in classes and will help them to learn faster. Treats need to also be a suitable size for your dog, for example a small dog needs quite small treats so they do not get full too quickly. Here are some suggestions for some high value treats:
- Cooked sausage
- Hotdog sausage or 'cheerios'
- Cheese
- Roast beef/lamb off cuts
- "Chunkers" (found at IGA and Woolies, great if you are in a hurry and have no time to prepare treats in advance)
- Firm dog roll (Prime 100 and Prime Kitchen are the best) cut in small pieces.

Here are some treats that are generally not high value enough for training class but can be useful for training at home:
- Kibble
- Dry commercial training treats
- Schmackos or other jerky treats

You will need quite a lot of treats, it is always handy to bring twice as much as you think you will need. Most unused treats can be frozen for next time.

Tableland Dog Obedience Club Inc.

Tableland Dog Obedience Club was founded in June 1990 and has been going strong ever since. we are situated on the Atherton Tablelands, west of Cairns and we train every Wednesday evening throughout the year. The cost is $35.00 per year plus $5.00 training fees per night. Classes 1, 2 and 3 will commence at 7 pm and go until 8 pm. Advanced class (classes 4 and 5) will commence at 6:00pm and run until 7:00pm. These amendments to our structure are to accommodate an increase in member numbers. We apologise for any inconvenience, but Tableland Dog Obedience is very excited that our club is growing in strength, and that the members of the new Advanced group will be receiving more individualised attention and exposure to more advanced training techniques. Dogs must be 3 months + the new intake is the first Wednesday of every month.
