The truth about owning a Siberian cat… 👀
You’re not just getting a cat… you’re getting a giant fluffy shadow that follows you to the bathroom, screams for attention at 3am and somehow leaves fur on clothes you haven’t even worn yet 😂

Before getting a Siberian cat, here are 5 things people don’t tell you 👇

1️⃣ They need WAY more attention than people expect.

Siberians are incredibly affectionate and loyal, but that also means they want to be involved in absolutely everything you’re doing. Personal space? Gone 😂

2️⃣ They’re highly intelligent and need daily stimulation.

These cats are playful, curious and energetic, which means boredom can become a problem very quickly if they’re not mentally stimulated.

3️⃣ Their triple-layered coats are beautiful… but high maintenance.

A lot of owners underestimate just how much grooming, brushing and upkeep comes with all that fluff.

4️⃣ Their health starts from the inside out.

Like many pedigree breeds, Siberians can be more prone to things like digestive sensitivities, skin and coat issues and joint-related concerns as they age.

5️⃣ Grooming alone isn’t enough.

A lot of owners focus only on brushing the outside coat, without realising there’s one thing that can make a huge difference to their overall wellbeing underneath all that fluff 👀

Siberians are one of the most loving, entertaining and beautiful cat breeds ever… but they definitely need a LOT more care and attention than people expect.

🤢 Does your dog eat cat poo?

As gross as it sounds, it’s actually a very common behaviour in dogs.

There are a few reasons why it can happen:
🐾 Cat poo can smell appealing to dogs because cat food is often higher in protein and fat
🐾 Natural scavenging instincts
🐾 Boredom or curiosity
🐾 Hunger or a strong food drive
🐾 Stress or anxiety in some cases
🐾 Digestive or nutritional imbalances may sometimes contribute

While it’s usually not a sign of anything serious, it’s definitely something you’ll want to discourage as cat faeces can expose dogs to parasites, worms, bacteria and stomach upset.

Here are a few things that may help:
✔️ Keep the litter tray out of reach
✔️ Clean it regularly
✔️ Provide plenty of enrichment and mental stimulation
✔️ Feed a balanced diet
✔️ Teach a strong “leave it” cue

Interestingly, gut health may also play a role. Some dogs with digestive imbalances can be more likely to seek out unusual things to eat, which is why supporting healthy digestion can be beneficial.

If the behaviour starts suddenly, becomes obsessive or your dog is eating other non-food items, it’s worth having a chat with your vet.

Not in a “do everything perfectly” kind of way…
Just in the small everyday moments that genuinely help them feel their best 🤍

Our pets can’t tell us when something feels off.
They rely on us to notice the little things, support their bodies and create routines that help them thrive physically & emotionally 🐶🐱

Prioritising your pet’s health can look like:

🐾 Daily walks, play & movement
🥩 Better nutrition + fresh wholefoods where you can
💧 Encouraging hydration
🧠 Enrichment, sniffing, toys & lick mats
😴 Proper rest & a calm safe space
🦷 Looking after dental health
✨ Supporting gut health
🦴 Supporting joints & mobility
🌿 Using supplements for extra support where needed

And honestly… one of the most important things you can give your pet is consistency, patience and quality time with you 🤍

You don’t need to change everything overnight.
Even small habits, done consistently, can make a meaningful difference over time.

Because at the end of the day… they’re not “just pets”.
They’re family 🐾

Did you know dogs should be getting at least 30 minutes of enrichment daily? 🐶🧠

Lick mats are one of the easiest ways to do this because they don’t just keep your dog physically busy, they also provide mental stimulation, help reduce boredom and encourage calmer behaviour 💚

Simple, affordable and most dogs absolutely love them 👏
