🐎 Tuesday 5th Jan — Equine Connections Experience

This Tuesday, we’re welcoming Discovery Coast Equine Connections for a special horse demonstration and encounter at Connected Kids.

This isn’t about riding or performing.
It’s about connection.

Children will observe, learn, ask questions, and experience what it means to be calm, present, and respectful around horses — animals that respond to nervous systems, not noise.

For some kids, this is exciting.
For others, it’s grounding.
For many, it’s a rare opportunity to slow down and connect in a different way.

We love experiences like this because they invite curiosity, empathy, and quiet confidence — without pressure to participate beyond what feels safe.

We’re currently shaping our Term 1 schedule, offering equine-assisted learning and natural horsemanship experiences designed to nurture awareness, confidence and genuine connection — both with horses and within ourselves.🫶🏼

What does 2026 .... the Year of the Horse ...mean for us?

Not in a loud, charging, “run faster, do more” way.
But in a deeply embodied, truth-telling way.

The Horse, symbolically, is about:

freedom

movement

instinct

truth

nervous system wisdom

connection over control

And 2026 asks us something very simple ..... and very uncomfortable:

Are you living in alignment with yourself,
or are you still trying to outrun something?

The Year of the Horse doesn’t reward force.
It responds to authenticity.

It asks:

Are you listening to your body or overriding it?

Are you choosing paths because they’re expected ....or because they feel right?

Are you moving with purpose… or just staying busy to avoid feeling?

For many of us (especially horse people), 2026 will be about coming back into the body.

Less dissociation.
Less pushing through.
More noticing.

Horses don’t rush for approval.
They move when it makes sense.
They stop when it doesn’t.
They don’t explain themselves.

That’s the energy.

2026 supports:

boundaries without guilt

rest without justification

saying “not today” and trusting it

choosing safety over spectacle

partnership over power

It’s a year where truth shows up quickly.
Misalignment feels louder.
And intuition gets harder to ignore.

If something isn’t right , you’ll feel it.
If something is right, your body will soften into it.

For horse owners, riders, helpers, carers, healers, humans: 2026 isn’t about doing more.

It’s about moving honestly.

With yourself.
With others.
With the lives we’re responsible for.

The Horse doesn’t ask you to be perfect.
It asks you to be present.

And that… might be the bravest thing of all.

Next week at Connected Kids Holiday Club 👀✨
And yes — it’s shaping up to be a good one.

We’re mixing creativity, movement, and meaningful experiences so kids can settle in, connect, and actually enjoy their days (not just be “kept busy”).

What’s on:

• Make your own playdough — Monday 5th Jan
Hands-on, sensory, and surprisingly regulating.

• Equine Connections Horse Encounter — Tuesday 6th Jan
A calm, confidence-building experience with horses that kids talk about long after.

• Mini Olympics — Wednesday 7th Jan
Team challenges, movement, laughter, and just enough competition to stretch comfort zones.

For kids ages 5+ who need space to move, belong, and land softly these holidays.

“The Way of the Horse”

The way of the horse is simple:
Notice. Feel. Respond. Be here.
No judgment. No rush. No pretending.

In their presence, we find a rhythm we forgot we had.
A freedom we didn’t know we were craving.

A belonging that has nothing to do with distance travelled or lessons learned.

It’s in the stillness.
In the pause between steps.
In the gaze that says: I see you. I hear you. You are enough.

This is the magic of the horse.
Not in riding. Not in doing.
But in being. 🖤

Merry Christmas from all of us at Discovery Coast Equine Connections! 🎄

As the year winds down, we want to take a moment to thank all of our wonderful friends, families, and fellow horse lovers for being part of our journey. Our herd has a way of teaching us the most important lessons—patience, trust, courage, and the joy of simply being present.

Every day with our horses is an adventure. From quiet moments of connection in the paddock to playful mischief that makes us laugh, they remind us to slow down, notice the little things, and care for one another. These moments aren’t just about horses—they’re about building understanding, confidence, and heart-to-heart connections that stay with us long after the day ends.

This holiday season, we hope your days are full of sunshine, laughter, and maybe even a little horse-inspired magic 🐴✨.

Here’s to a New Year overflowing with joy, learning, and special memories shared with both humans and horses alike.

From Kristy and the herd – thank you for being part of our story. Horses will have a well deserved rest on some fresh pasture and we will be back end of January. We can’t wait to share another year of connection, growth, and horsey happiness with you in 2026! 💜

Congratulations to our 2025 Student of the Year, Gemma Owen!🏆💜

This special recognition celebrates Gemma’s deep connection with the horses and her wholehearted commitment to the equine-assisted learning journey. She didn’t miss a single session thanks to her beautiful mum, family and support workers, arriving each time with curiosity, kindness, and genuine enthusiasm. ✨

The bond Gemma has formed with Beauty is truly phenomenal — a beautiful reflection of trust, patience, body language, honesty, kindness, love and mutual understanding.

Your performance today and every session is amazing now confidently grooming, doing relaxation and breathing exercises, leading in hand and at liberty, free lunging, doing tricks, target training and completing obstacles successfully. Through this special relationship, Gemma has shown outstanding growth in horsemanship, coordination, confidence, and self-belief, allowing the horses to be her greatest teachers. 🦄

A truly well-deserved achievement. You are an absolute pleasure and joy to be around - my horses, my family and I feel honered to walk this journey with you, we are so proud of you, Gemma. 🤩💕
