Our poor Miss Hush was returned to us in pretty terrible condition. She was quite literally covered in prickles and grass seeds and most had to be cut from what was a very full coat as they had embedded deep and had started to cause sores, cuts and rashes.
She had to spend yesterday at the vets going under sedation to have grass seed removed from her ear which has also ruptured her ear drum.
I say this not to name and shame, but to inform you some things in our guardian home application process will be changing and to bring awareness that it's prickle season and it is super easy for a prickles or grass seeds to get missed. Put hands on your dog/puppy every day. Please dont dump them outside alone everyday. They are family members and we expect the very best for them. Grass seeds get into your dogs coat and you cant see them and they are easily missed. Please note, there were close to 100 in her coat, not a stray missed one. While I did all my usual checks with the family, my mistake was accepting photos of a yard in my application (which unknown to me were extremely outdated) instead of my usual video call walk through because I was dropping her to their house i accepted this but never actually layed eyes on the yard and assuming they read the contract when infact I believe they just skimmed and signed. We will be doing even more in-depth interviews and processes with our guardian families moving forward. WHILE ALL THIS SEEMS SAD, the very very best has happened. Miss Hush has found the most amazing Guardian home, like it was meant to be. Her new family are the owners of a small country pub and she will in fact have the entire pub crew and locals to love on her too. She is going to be a pub dog with her new name Chardonnay, chardy for short and I can assure you, she already has run of the place and melting hearts.
