Dr. Cristina, our veterinary neurologist, often sees pets brought in with a diagnosis of “epilepsy” already on long-term medication that doesn’t seem to help.
But after a thorough neurological examination, she frequently discovers something entirely different: a movement disorder, not epilepsy at all.

This happens more often than most people realize. Seizures can look similar on the surface, but the underlying causes can vary drastically from neurological misfires to structural brain changes or metabolic issues. Treating all of them the same way can delay the right care and even make symptoms worse.
